If God was to recreate the Earth, on the first day of creation, God might have uttered, "Let the Earth breathe." Our dear Earth is the ultimate multitasker, catering to the needs of 8 billion people and countless other land and sea creatures. Zero Emissions Day symbolizes a profound commitment to sustainability, a call to action to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and a demonstration of our capacity to work together as a global community to better our shared home, Earth. Here's what you can do to celebrate Zero Emissions Day: https://lnkd.in/dn_MQdpw #ZeroEmissionsDay #PloggingNigeria

Really great evidence based article on the issue of inheritance tax. "Why so many politicians are getting exercised on behalf of such a small number of potential voters is puzzling" There're much more pressing issues that our leaders should focus on in #Budget2025 https://lnkd.in/eggxrPhr For example they really should be focusing on reversing the inheritance of a burning planet driven by our unsustainable economic model we are leaving to all our children. https://lnkd.in/e-7F_8MG
When is your country's 'overshoot day'? 🌎 Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services exceeds what the Earth can regenerate that year. 📅 On 1 August 2024, we will hit the mark for the year. That means that in just 7 months, humanity has used what Earth takes 12 months to regenerate. But we can make changes to #MoveTheDate by reducing our demand on our planet. 🌍 It's Earth Overshoot Day August 1 marks #EarthOvershootDay - the day when our demand for ecological resources exceeds what Earth can regenerate in a year. What does it mean? It means that since the early 1970s, humanity has lived on an ecological credit card. In 1971, Earth Overshoot Day was December 25. Today, it’s August 1. That’s not a good sign. Let’s face it: if we stay on this path, future generations are going to have it rough. We already have it rough. Imagine this intensifying. Let's act now—our planet needs us. 🌱 Check out the Global Footprint Network, they have some great insights on how to make a difference.

Happy Earth Day! "Earth Day is a poignant reminder of the importance of nurturing our planet. This year, let's pledge to plant more trees. Trees not only beautify our surroundings but also play a crucial role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Each tree planted is a step towards a greener, healthier future for all living beings. Let's make every day Earth Day by actively contributing to the conservation and restoration of our environment." #earthday #linkedincreator #canvassador

Every year, Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity's demand for ecological resources and services exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year. In 2024, this critical threshold is reached on August 1, 2024. This day is not just a symbolic milestone; it's a stark reminder of our unsustainable consumption patterns and the urgent need for change. Earth Overshoot Day is calculated by the Global Footprint Network, an international research organization that tracks human demand on nature. They assess the ecological footprint of human activities and compare it to the planet's capacity to replenish these resources. When we deplete resources faster than they can be regenerated, we enter a state of ecological deficit. Living in ecological overshoot means we are borrowing resources from the future, leading to the degradation of natural systems, loss of biodiversity, and the exacerbation of climate change. This unsustainable trajectory threatens the very foundation of our economy, health, and wellbeing.
