Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance has clearly identified technology adoption as the cornerstone of economic boom, where the public body is expecting a $2.8 trillion gain by 2040. Digital CIO Indonesia is an exclusive opportunity to be cognizant of the country’s technology run into the future. The platform will host Indonesia’s most influential Chief Information Officers (CIOs), leading IT leaders and other top officials who together form the core decision-making group in the technology realm. Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance has clearly identified technology adoption as the cornerstone of economic boom, where the public body is expecting a $2.8 trillion gain by 2040. Considered as the land of unicorns, the world’s largest archipelago is home to ASEAN’s most successful businesses and over 2,500 active startups. While the nation is attracting both local and overseas players for multi-billion-dollar investments, the massive growth in its tech sphere can be attributed to its young, tech-savvy population and the government’s active engagement. From the extensive list of government-oriented bounties, some of the most prominent ones include - supportive regulatory environment for technology companies, the latest series of pro-innovation policies & initiatives, tax incentives, and funding aid for budding startups. I spoke about this at the BVT Tech Summit last July....The President had said something similar a few weeks before. It blows my mind and Indonesia needs to really get with the programme on technology. This is not just BUMN, in most companies there is no technology roadmap, every time a new Department Head comes in, they do another project and rinse and repeat. There is often also no clear strategy between different departments. I am often called by one senior guy when I know another senior guy is already engaging a company overseas. It's a mind boggling way to run companies and an economy. It is all about job creation and ensuring continued reliance on them. This type of money has been burned, while many basic technologies remain extremely poor. Sad to say, but you really wonder how much of this was spent on these apps and how much ended up in people's pockets. We try to build here, real software, solve real issues, but unfortunately we look at long term, efficiency and a roadmap. Despite the local content comments and misguided regulations, I have received no benefit from building everything locally. Most these calls from the President, do not appear to be actioned and beyond apps in the public and private sector, the level of real digital transformation in Indonesia remains very low, as there is no real incentive to do it, when all the big boys with government connections just importing everything still, even when local software is available which is cheaper and set up for the local market. I wish for less virtue signaling, because honestly speaking, the companies who have followed the rules and the wishes of the leaders, but realise actions are very different, will be accepted with open arms elsewhere🙏 #business #environment #reality Bhumi Varta Technology https://lnkd.in/g5mYek8t

Research results from The World Bank and McKinsey & Company say that Indonesia needs 9 million digital/tech talents by 2030. The need for digital talent on average reaches 600,000 people per year. Unfortunately, until now there is still a gap of 400,000-500,000 digital/tech talents per year. This is because campuses in Indonesia are only able to supply around 100,000-200,000 digital/tech talents each year. However, amidst the high demand for digital talent candidates that cannot be met, it turns out that many of the available talents cannot be absorbed by the industry because the skill requirements are not in line with business needs. Furthermore, what efforts can be made to solve this problem? Watch in full here, the latest edition of Digitalk with Ibrahim Arief, Chief Technology Officer GovTech Edu and Elfino Sitompul, Co-Founder Algobash, hosted by our Chief of Group Digital Strategy, Paul Soegianto. Enjoy the show! #techtalent #startup #astra #govtechedu #algobash

Does Indonesia really want to build its own software and have real meaningful digital transformation or instead just focus on MSMEs, when there is currently a very low level of digitalization in the government and large corporations and MSMEs are the last people who need this or often want.. The focus on cashless etc, like it's some panacea is quite confusing.....In many countries globally, smaller vendors want cash to maximize their revenue (and minimize their tax). Tech focus needs to be top down, supporting local tech and real innovation... Let's focus on the real issues and solving the real problems....Not jumping on the next failed business model from another country and trying to copy it. Indonesia needs tech beyond enabling apps and a myriad of ways to pay for things. Why not become the next China and no longer be reliant on foreign countries for all your software. It never used to be that way but the Chinese government focused on investment in innovation and building their own high tech brands which are now amongst the best in the world. If a fraction of the burned VC investment had been into deep tech there would be one or two companies already, exporting their real tech overseas. Let's get this done Indonesia #deeptech #localproduct #creatingalegacy #BVT #businessoptimization #businessintelligence #locationanalytics #bigdata #dataisthenewoil
