A transformative social researcher dedicated to catalyzing a profound departure from the detrimental influences of capital, colonialism, and authoritarian politics. I DO NOT REPRESENT ANY INSTITUTIONS HERE.
This sad and shameful reality extends from household/domestic violence and workplace power imbalances, through the community's intersectional relations, all the way to the corporate-state alliance against populations and nature, and to international conflicts, especially those orchestrated under imperialist projects. Every form of oppression actually has three facets, not just two: the oppressor, the oppressed, and the silent complicit! The silence of the latter does not imply it plays no role! However, the longer the silence persists, the more likely it is that the silent will become the subject of increasingly systematized and thus prolonged oppression. The complicit in the oppression, quite often, becomes the oppressed!

Founding Executive Director @ Advancing Health Equity Movement C.IC , UK First Equity Advocate Researcher Racially Trauma Fellow at West Yorkshire improving Population Health, Innovation in Mental Health 2023 Winner
👊🏾 I Am Good Trouble I AM 👊🏾 Four years ago, the Good Trouble Project sparked a journey of resilience, creativity, and empowerment within me and my community. It delved into the UK's activism hotspots, unearthing stories of resistance and hope. Through the Love, Hate, Create model, we empowered individuals to transform struggles into creative expressions driving societal change. As an intersectional environmentalist, advocate, researcher, founder, CEO, educator, and innovator, I've witnessed how art and activism can heal and inspire. My journey, layered with challenges like ADHD, autism, PTSD, autoimmune diseases, motherhood, and divorce, fuels my advocacy for equity and racial trauma-informed practices. Proud of our legacy, I believe that every step we take towards justice shapes a brighter, more equitable future. Let's continue making good trouble and being the change we seek. 🙏🏾 My Prayer for the Future: May the Most High guide me on a path of self-discovery and growth, shaping my reality through faith, creativity, and forgiveness. Let's transform life's discords into harmonies, embracing an abundant life and being masters of our fate. Join me in this journey towards justice and empowerment! #GoodTrouble #Activism #SocialJustice #CommunityEmpowerment #LegacyOfChange #ArtForJustice #Advocacy #EqualityForAll #Inspiration #Resilience #CollectiveAction #RacialTraumaHealing #LoveHateCreate #Visionary

It is #HumanTraffickingAwarenessDay, so take a moment to spread awareness and debunk some common myths about human trafficking and modern slavery. Human trafficking is a complex social justice issue that is difficult to identify, and adding to further misconceptions, it is often misrepresented in pop culture. Here are some myths to look out for: ⚠️MYTH: Human Trafficking is a problem far away Human trafficking exists in all countries around the world. People of every race, gender identification, religion, age, and economic background can be susceptible to human trafficking but poverty and discrimination increase vulnerability. ⚠️MYTH: Perpetrators are ‘criminals’ Perpetrators may not be recognized as ‘criminals’, they can be unscrupulous employers, companies, and governments. Perpetrators can even be victims of human trafficking themselves, forced or coerced to traffick others. ⚠️MYTH: People in slavery are transported and tied up. Human trafficking is often portrayed in pop culture as a young girl being swiped off the street or tied up. It is human trafficking if force, coercion, deception or fraud is used. Transportation and physical restraint are not always present. ⚠️MYTH: If it’s expensive, it wasn’t made with trafficked forced labor. A higher price does not guarantee that a product is slavery-free. Many materials used in expensive items have been implicated in the use of forced labor: diamonds, cobalt for batteries, fabric for designer clothing. ⚠️MYTH: Human trafficking only affects women and girls. Human trafficking affects both men, women, boys and girls. Historically, most identified victims of human trafficking are women. More recently organizations have become better at identifying male victims of human trafficking. ⚠️MYTH: There is nothing I can do about it. You do have the power to make a difference! Together we can hold businesses and governments accountable and push for change. When we come together, our collective voice can have a big impact. Keep learning about human trafficking and turn your awareness into action by signing our petitions! https://lnkd.in/eYQgdHRB

Let's Talk About Elitism in Social Work and Human Services 🌟 As professionals dedicated to serving others, it's essential for us to pause and reflect on how we interact with those we aim to support. In the realms of social work and human services, there's simply no space for elitism. Every person we encounter, regardless of their background, deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and empathy. Whether we're assisting individuals facing homelessness, providing counseling to those in distress, or advocating for marginalized communities, our approach must be grounded in humility and understanding. Elitism can sneak into our practices in subtle ways – through unconscious biases, assumptions about a person's worth based on societal status, or even the language we use. But we must actively challenge these tendencies. Let's prioritize inclusivity and collaboration over superiority and judgment. Let's listen attentively to the voices of those we serve, recognizing their inherent value and agency. Let's strive to create environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can foster a culture of compassion and equity within our profession, ensuring that our efforts truly uplift and empower those who need it most. #SocialWork #HumanServices #Inclusivity #Empathy #Compassion #SocialJustice #Equality #Mindfulness

🌟💞 Building Bridges: The Journey of Trust 💞🌟 Working closely with many courageous women in recovery and those transitioning from incarceration, I've seen firsthand the profound fear of connecting with others that many face. Trust can be incredibly daunting when you've experienced betrayal and hurt. 🛡💔 Like many, I've been through seasons where the instinct was to build walls rather than bridges, to protect myself from further pain. It’s a natural response, but often, it leads us away from what we truly need: healthy, supportive relationships that foster growth and healing. 🌉💪 Here's the reality: healing and personal growth require us to take down these walls bit by bit. It demands a degree of trust—not just in others but in ourselves to make judgements about who truly has our best interests at heart. 🤝💖 Embracing Trust: Seek Supportive Relationships: Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Look for communities that encourage growth and provide a safe space for healing. Small Steps: Trust doesn’t need to be all or nothing. Start small, let someone in bit by bit, and gauge how they respect your boundaries and needs. 🌱 Believe in Good: Remember, there are people who genuinely care and want to see you thrive—filled with joy, purpose, and self-worth. Today, let's challenge ourselves to lean into discomfort just a little, to possibly discover relationships that can truly transform our lives. 🌟🌿 What steps are you taking to build trust in your relationships? Share your experiences and let's support each other in our journeys towards healing and growth. 💬👭 Have a beautiful day! #HealingJourney #TrustBuilding #Recovery #AwakenYourLioness #TerryDeAragon #HealthyRelationships #PersonalGrowth #SupportiveCommunity #LifeAfterIncarceration

🔹In this insightful video, our guest delves into a profound topic: the sanctity of the husband-wife relationship and its impact on a broader scale. It's intriguing how the health of marriages correlates with the strength of nations. Here are some key points: - Strong marriages = Strong households. - Strong households = Stable communities. - Stable communities = Robust nations. Despite the challenges brought by COVID-19, including increased marital strain, understanding the bigger picture can help us navigate through these tough times. As our guest points out, external forces often try to destabilize these unions to weaken societal bonds. How do you believe stronger family units can contribute to a more resilient society? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments! #FamilyStrength #CommunityBuilding #SocietalHealth #MarriageMatters #PostCOVIDChallenges #LinkedInInsights #
