#YearInReview: Scientists at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory developed a capability to insert multiple genes into plants in a single step. Traditional genetic engineering involves a complex, time-intensive process: adding one gene and its associated biochemical machinery to plants, proving it works, then taking that plant material and transforming it a second time with another gene and proving that works, then a third gene and so on.
