The impact investment sector is growing rapidly, and it's no secret.
Last week I had the pleasure to attend the #BusinessOfImpact2024 event by Impact Europe (formerly EVPA) in The Hague, where investors and corporates met to discuss the future landscape of investing in impact.
A promising future ahead, it seems. However, many investors are keeping the focus on entrepreneurs in acceleration and more advanced phases rather than considering pre-seed or pre-revenue projects.
In other words: with more capital becoming available, there's definitely a widespread interest in supporting diverse founders as well as entrepreneurs from emerging markets.
👉🏻 But we need to make it happen in an inclusive way, or the lack of deal flow for early-stage phases will end up affecting the same underrepresented entrepreneurs we want to support.
Organizations like Bridge for Billions play a crucial role here, and the more support we provide, the better we'll be all able to channel the funding in the right directions, supporting an inclusive pipeline for investors.
👉🏻 On the other side, corporates or funding organizations face challenges too. They need to justify more and more the benefits of investing in the broader ecosystem across different departments, ensuring relevance for marketing, HR, and innovation. The sooner we learn about this, the better.
The mechanics of the impact world are complex and ever-changing. Truth is, and I'm sure you all agree, what I truly appreciate from this events are all those new connections and constructive conversations.
Because eventually, we all end up agreeing on one thing: the more ecosystem actors meet and collaborate among each other, the more we’ll be able to take over "ego-systems."
And if there’s something I’ve learnt in my experience as a CEO and entrepreneur: when you want to make a change, there’s nothing more effective than joining forces with others.
To all actors involved in impact: may the future bring great opportunities 💙
