More insights from Thomas Draschbacher into the #workinprogress of the "Fostering innovation ecosystems for a green mobility transition" 🌱 #UniteSeedFund project. One of the aims of the #UniteSeedFund is to stimulate academic collaboration to carry out early-stage research or exploratory studies that intend to obtain significant funding from other major sources, thus leveraging the seed funding. In this case, the four main goals of the initiative include leveraging innovation for a sustainable transition, enhancing partnerships through workshops, seeking new collaborators and feedback, and securing long-term funding to establish the project as a foundation for collaboration and grant applications. 💭 Get inspired, grow together #Letsunite #europeanuniversities #research #internationalresearch #sustainabletransport #EUclimateneutrality
How can we make our cities more #sustainable without changing our way of living? One solution are #UrbanLogisticsHubs. Urban logistics hubs serve as interfaces between extra-urban and inner-city freight traffic. They are an important concept in the #GreenTransformation of urban freight transportation: 🌱 They facilitate the consolidation of goods so that the number of delivery vehicles can be reduced. 🌱 They facilitate the switch towards more sustainable means of transportation, so that GHG and other emissions can be reduced. 🌱 They can provide important services of daily life to urban citizens. The best impact can be achieved if many different stakeholders cooperate for the installation and operation of urban logistics hubs. Although such #CooperativeUrbanLogisticsHubs are technologically possible, there are many institutional, organisational and social problems to be resolved. Together with 27 partners from 4 countries, we have just submitted a proposal for a funded research project, in which we aim to develop solutions for these issues. Keep your fingers crossed! As the project leader for this submission with a total budget of €2.2 million, I want to thank the many contributors and the Unite! - University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering! for their support! Connecting Communities, Strengthening Lives: The Power of #PeopleCentered Mobility Please join me for a new conversation we are having about people-centered transportation, prioritizing the #wellbeing and #qualityoflife life for individuals and communities. It's taking place in a few weeks as part of ITE - A Community of Transportation Professionals' virtual spring conference - The Journey to Safer Communities, March 19 and 20th. https://lnkd.in/gPqXftuk Along with Kelly Rodgers, PhD and Meghan Mitman, AICP, RSP2I, the Chair of #ITE's #TransportationPlanning Council, Dan Hennessey, will be moderating our conversation: "This session will introduce the concept in more detail, describe how people-centered transportation differs from the traditional approach, the fundamental principles of people-centered transportation, and examples of what this looks like on the ground. Where possible, examples will introduce #systemsthinking into future mobility and infrastructure planning that can help transform our street networks to yield more people-centered outcomes. The presentation will conclude with how the people-centered initiative is organized within ITE, activities we are undertaking, and how you can get involved." We are at the start of something new and exciting in our #transportation domain, will you be able to join us?
