The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s Post

The Port Authority of NY and NJ is taking an innovative approach to improve the cargo gateway on the East Coast - through the $220 million Port Street Corridor improvement project. This project that encompasses road and ramp upgrades to the main artery in Port Newark will feature an efficient roadway configuration that promotes safe trucking operations, leading to significant time savings and a reduction in carbon emissions. With a $44 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) program, this project will enhance efficiency and reliability across the supply chain. Near and dear to my heart. Long time coming and elated that the Port Authority received this important grant. Kudos to the Port staff.

About time! Great project for good old New Jersey port! Been through the traffic jams in that area a lot! Hope they use Glass Fiber Rebars such MSTBAR for those ramps, to avoid future corrosion and future maintenance due to various de-icing salts and chemicals! It is time to make some improvements to the very old infrastructure compared to other countries. I hope this is just an initial step to go beyond what has been approved for now. The companies allocated there should invest more in their work force (24/7), including new ventilation, new restrooms, and cafeterias.
