The solar and wind industries reached record installations in 2023, thanks to falling costs, policy support for the transition to a low-carbon economy and rising energy security concerns. Applications are due TOMORROW for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) program! The C2C peer-learning cohorts convene communities from across the country to spend 6 months learning from energy experts—and each other—about best practices, strategies, and tools for approaching a specific energy topic. The three cohort topics in this round include energy efficiency programs for residential buildings, municipal fleet electrification, and implementing agrivoltaics projects. Cohorts will start in July. This project is coordinated by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and World Resources Institute. In Juniper Networks' CEO Rami Rahim's latest blog post, he shares his excitement about Juniper's participation in the buyer-aggregated deal to procure renewable energy credits from a to-be-built 180-megawatt project in Texas through SR Inc's Net Zero Consortium for Buyers. Juniper joins six other corporations in signing virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) in this transaction — one of the largest peer-buyer organized aggregations to date globally. This approach democratizes access to the commercial and environmental benefits of utility-scale renewable energy by making procurement accessible to a broader range of enterprises. Once online, it is expected to generate renewable electricity equivalent to 70% of Juniper’s electricity demand in North America.
