Here are some thoughts I shared on how Eesti Tööandjate Keskliit / Estonian Employers' Confederation gained valuable insights through a study by Rakendusliku Antropoloogia Keskus / Center for Applied Anthropology of Estonia (CAAE) on Estonian industry leaders and societal attitudes towards the industrial economy. We’ve recognized the critical need for a shift in our societal mindset to better understand that the fundamentals of our economy are built by our own local, resilient, and capable industries, which serve as important employers and key players in regional communities. At the same time, facing an economic downturn and a lag in productivity growth against rising costs, it's time to secure the future competitiveness of our industries and help them move towards a more sustainable and higher value-added economy. The study by Keiu Telve and her team confirmed how our industry leaders, known for their continuous adaptation and creation of smart solutions to complex problems, now just need to rediscover their internal strengths and dynamic capabilities for new exciting innovations ahead.

In this post, I continue discussing the drum-up, the initial phase of the Innovation Laboratory program, successfully implemented in over 100 local governments, generating tens of thousands of innovative ideas. Despite having conducted numerous drum-up sessions, there's surprisingly little documentation of these events. In a casual manner, I jokingly speculated that perhaps the audience and organizing committees were so engaged in my presentation so that recording it became forgotten. To my delight, I recently discovered a complete drum-up recording on the Kerinci Regency Government's YouTube channel. While the drum-up content is always tailored to local conditions, the Kerinci’s recording represents hundreds of similar sessions. A memorable highlight emerged when the Regent sent me a heartfelt message on WhatsApp shortly after the drum-up session ended. Mr. Regent expressed deep gratitude for what was described as an "extraordinary gift" of enlightenment, emphasizing its impact on thought and emotions. The message conveyed a hope that the knowledge and motivation shared would benefit all the participants. Mr. Regent also wrote that on a personal level, meeting with me has been more than just forming an ordinary friendship. It's akin to having a teacher with profound knowledge. Listening to my presentation is like drawing wisdom from a clear spring, with every word carrying depth and insight. Finally, Mr. Regent wished me and my family remain healthy, enthusiasm, everlasting success, and enduring happiness. Such a lovely response, for me, serves as a significant testimony. It surpasses any monetary value, indicating that the impact of my work extends deep into the hearts of individuals like the Regent and possibly resonates within the entire officials in Kerinci.
