"A Morning Walk In The Forest" Hello Friends...this image actually came from a walk I did amongst the trees while strolling along a paved path. State parks make it easy to get my daily walks done. They provide me with the choice of paved or gravel walk spaces. I find that early morning is best for me. I feel like the area belongs to me and that I am just walking around my enormous backyard forest area. Nature is all present with song birds, squirrels, an occasional deer or two, a few hawks, and plenty of beautiful trees and plants in various stages of life. I find these walks to be so peaceful. It is what I call a "walking meditation" and after 45 minutes of walking, I tend to start photographing my environment and/or writing whatever thoughts come. It is a beautifully refreshing process. Afterwards, I feel more self-awareness, calm, peace, joyfulness, and in complete gratitude for the day! Do you have similar practices? Do you photograph during your walks? Do you prefer outdoor Nature walks at State or Local Parks or do you prefer to walk in a gym on the treadmill? Exercise is good for us. We are recommended to engage in at least 150 minutes weekly (300 minutes is ideal) of active aerobic exercise, which could be a fast focused walk or running, or hiking (there are many other options, just check with your healthcare professional as to what would be best for you). Just completed a 3.11-mile afternoon hike at Padley Gorge in Sheffield, and I can't help but reflect on the incredible benefits of hiking. 🌲🏞️ Hiking isn't just a great way to stay fit; it's a holistic activity that nourishes both body and mind. Here are some key benefits I've experienced: Physical Fitness: Hiking engages various muscle groups, improves cardiovascular health, and boosts overall fitness. It's a full-body workout that doesn't feel like one because of the beautiful surroundings. Mental Clarity: Spending time in nature reduces stress, enhances mood, and promotes mental well-being. Recap – November 17th was National Hiking Day Do you know that November 17th was National Hiking Day? It’s also known as ‘Take A Hike Day.’ What is the difference between hiking and walking? A hike tends to be more difficult than a walk, because of the terrain and/or elevation; and it’s normally longer in distance. Generally, walking is on a smooth flat surface. Hiking is more of a challenge, both physically and mentally. Research has shown that hiking boosts cardiovascular performance, core strength and endurance; and, it also provides many mental health benefits. Research by Stanford University found that hiking increases the energy your body uses by 28% compared to walking. Hiking on uneven terrain, like a nature trail, beach or other uneven surface, means that your body has to work harder, which burns more calories, approximately 300 to 400 calories an hour. Before hiking, be prepared, know your route, dress for the weather – wearing appropriate clothing and proper footwear. Take water, and, tell someone where you’re going, and, when you have returned. Take a fully charged mobile phone with you. Be aware of your surroundings and your personal space; which is important when hiking alone. After all of that, enjoy the workout! Your body and mind will thank you! To sum up, hiking gets your heart pumping, burns calories, increases endurance and fitness levels. 🏆 Challenger Spotlight – Bear Naked’s “Naked Trails” with Leo Burnett    It’s Friday and the last day of the Cannes Lions Festival 😢 so we thought today’s Challenger in the Spotlight needed to be one that reminds us to get out and have a bit of fun!     “Naked Trails” from Kellogg’s Bear Naked Granola company which won a Silver Lion in the Brand Experience and Activation category is a great example of using a Challenger Mindset to develop a Can-If solution. Laws and regulations around naked or free hiking can be different and confusing around the US but Bear Naked’s goal is to help people enjoy nature in whatever way they choose. So to celebrate National Nude Day last year, Bear Naked Granola worked with Outside’s Gaia GPS to create America’s first nude-friendly trail system so that those who wanted to go bare naked could do so safely and legally. Using naked hiking influencers and regular members of the wider naked hiking community, they tagged trails with a secret nudity friendly code (🐻🍑✅), thereby creating a nationwide hiking system for those who want to get as close to nature as possible.    By speaking directly to a niche group (which nicely played into the brand’s name) also allowed Bear Naked to show that they understand their audience and want to support them. The origins of what us now understood as GorpCore can be traced back to the Italian football terraces of the early eighties and the subsequent adoption of a more utilitarian look in the UK. Technical/practical garments have always held a particular fascination for designers and fashionistas alike …most modern fashion clothing come to that has its origin to some degree in the military/workwear aesthetic dating back centuries. The 80s however produced a more focused street wear based aesthetic which in the UK was most associated with the likes of Berghaus and Sprayway …following on as it from the previous decades interest in technical sportswear. The present preoccupation with the outdoor aesthetic, be it the pared back utilitarianism of Arcteryx or TNF (not to mention a clutch of wonderful Japanese labels) or the hipster chic of heritage based brands such as Patagonia and Fjallraven, has blurred the lines between function and fashion/lifestyle to an unprecedented degree and to the huge benefit of both categories which are now seen as pretty much interchangeable. As to where it’s heading…well the outdoor DNA is so firmly embedded in lifestyle fashion that there is no other game in town …streetwear presents a different challenge of course. Having had a foot in all of the aforementioned camps at retail over many years I and many others are indebted to the GorpCore phenomenon in a big way…

What are you celebrating this week? And how did you celebrate it?..   It’s easy to make a big deal about the bad things when they happen, because they stop us in our tracks. However we sometimes forget to celebrate and make a fuss over the things that go right. It’s so easy to move on quickly to the next task when things go our way, forgetting to take a moment and properly celebrate our successes.   It might be celebrating winning some new business, a friend/family member doing something incredible, or simply celebrating that you survived a tough week.   Try setting aside time to do something nice with those involved to mark it. Take a moment to take a deep breath, let your shoulders drop, and smile as you cheers your colleagues/ friends/family who played a part in the success.   Recently we have been celebrating being named as one of the top 5 water toys of 2023 by LUXURY BRUSSELS. It's a fantastic website showcasing the best things happening in Brussels. You might enjoy reading the article yourself below...
