Not too long ago, I attended a women’s retreat. I’ve gone to the same one for 17 years because it refreshes me personally and stimulates my creativity. It’s an amazing experience I urge all women to make room for. To make it happen, start small by building your desire and putting money away for it. Before you get started with researching women’s retreats online, take a moment to answer these questions, because it will help you narrow down the choices to a manageable selection. What would your dream retreat be like? • Do you want to stay in your state or country, or do you want to travel elsewhere? • What focus is most important to you — healthy food, exercise, networking within your career field, personal or professional growth, spirituality, or learning a specific skill? • What setting do you prefer — city, beach, mountains, forests, ranch, etc? As you start researching different retreats, read their websites and literature and follow them on social media. And stay tuned for the Wednesday post. Community is a big thing for me 🤗 I've always loved being part of business communities, but especially since moving to the Czech Republic (involuntarily and non-permanently) a few years ago, I've been craving more and more connections with like-minded people, and being surrounded by open-minded and supportive people. When I landed here, in the middle of nowhere, at the beginning of the global pandemic, I didn't necessarily feel completely cut out of my old network, but over time I started noticing that I needed more. I need more connections and I need connections with different people. (And for many different reasons, I didn't feel like meeting people in person over here, even when it became possible after 2020.) Online networking was the only way forward for me! To start with, it's pretty overwhelming to know which group to join. There are so many memberships, networking groups and online communities. You can easily find one (or several) for each niche, but finding the right one(s) that really fits you, supports you, nourishes you and inspires you, that's a bit more difficult. But as long as you stay open and keep looking, something will come your way sooner or later. And that's how I found out about Winning Women. One random LinkedIn post inspired me to join my first event, and I've been a happy member ever since. It's a brilliant community of creative, passionate, empathetic, hard-working, smart, genuine women, led by the amazing Rosemary Cunningham. Today's gratitude post goes out to all the fantastic networking groups out there, but a huge shout out especially to #WinningWomen! 🙌🏻 Even though I'm unable to join any of the in-person events in the UK, I'm so glad to be able to participate in their monthly virtual mixer and be part of the online community on Facebook and LinkedIn. Plus they also have a bookclub, and as you probably know by now that's a huge bonus for me too! There are a few more groups that I started testing in the last month or so, and I'm hoping that some of them will become part of my virtual collective going forward as well. ☀ Congratulations to all of us. We've completed another trip around the sun. And it’s time for another “motivational” LinkedIn post... Not really, but a few thoughts, since the kids are back at school 🎉 and I'm fully back online. As we all know, the first week of January is tough and I’m advocating for an e.a.s.y.g.o.i.n.g start to the year – because 2023 was FULL ON, wasn’t it? So...2024, let’s have you & your new LinkedIn algorithms. My first year as a (tiny) agency co-founder in 2023 taught me a few things that kinda blew my mind having worked in “big corporations”. For anyone thinking of taking the leap to independence in 2024, or starting a collective/ agency/ side hustle, I’d tell you to absolutely GO FOR IT. Why? Because there’s always so much to gain from taking that leap of faith... Here are some of the things I’ve learned in my 1st year. Dw, I’ll keep it brief. 1. You can scrap the endless decks for a one-page read-through. It saves everyone's time and pretty much everyone is grateful. 2. Be open. To people’s time. To new ideas. To new ways of working. To invitations and offers. All of it. Digitally or IRL. But IRL has been such a bonus. 3. Talent is EVERYWHERE. We work with brilliant people at TTP: people who are based in Mexico City, Perth and Brooklyn. I heard that even if you work in an office, if you’re more than 30 feet away, you end up collaborating digitally anyway. 4. Good gut health. Go with your gut. Yeah yeah; data, evidence. But there is actual scientific evidence as to why going with your gut works (see comments) and I genuinely think that when you work for yourself, your instincts are your best friend.  5. Experiment. Get inventive within constraints, do the odd (potentially cringeworthy) post and find people willing to experiment and embrace mad ideas. And now for the blatant brag. In 2023 at The Thought Partnership, we: 🌎 Co-produced/ co-curated five live events – in Atlanta, Barcelona, NY and London 👭 Helped launch the Women in Work global series, led by the brilliant Intuitive Events Ltd team ✏ Wrote 28 awards entries – with an 100 percent shortlist/win rate 🔦 Helped talented people get onstage at big global events like Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Web Summit, CES, D&AD and SXSW 💹 Consulted and executed on seven go-to-market strategies for events, creative, media and information businesses 🔂 Wrote the D&AD Annual Trends Report 🎤 Recorded 20+ podcasts for Love, Hate, Create with @ (thanks to all our generous and interesting guests). In 2024, we’re excited to launch new initiatives with partners, including Brands&Culture (event series and community) – more soon. The best surprise? Collaborating with so many old friends/colleagues.  Adding these people up, I’ve known them for 100+ years. Life is short. Choose your colleagues wisely. 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 - 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻? Yeah -- I don't think anyone relishes the idea of looking at a blank screen. In my paid program, in addition to a (virtual) coworking day, two Zoom Q&A sessions, and one what's new seminar, I also go through the national (and international) holidays and specials days once a month, with a focus on the folks in the group. A number of my members have been around a while (HI Beth Selix Tomas and Stefanie Synal ) so I naturally remember to tag their days -- and I meet with new m embers to try to get to know what they are looking for. Some of the days coming up in the next week are International Women's Day (I know quite a few people that focus on women clients), and I think for those in the U.S. we're ALL not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep on Sunday. ✨NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY✨     In your 20s, you tend to feel lost or restless within the workplace. Add working in the social space to the mix, you can wave your sanity goodbye with the ever-changing algorithm + creative competition. That’s why Zoe Matthews and I created Social Girls Being Social, a new community and networking opportunity for young female professionals in the social media/marketing space to encourage and connect with each other! How did this all begin? You could call it a modern-day pen-pal story, but we like to call it “the universe universe-ing.” Despite never having met in person and being on two completely different coasts, we've connected professionally over the last few years through organizing giveaways between our brands. Busy, busy, busy!! I've not been on here for a few days, time just got away from me! Thursday I was at the Big Festive Afternoon Tea, at Hogarths Solihull, which I co-hosted with Sandra Garlick MBE, Sharon Louca 💎, and Karen Heap. As usual, I forgot to take any pics as I was too busy talking (no wonder I find this content lark so challenging!! 🤣🤣), but there have been plenty posted already, so I'm sure you've seen them. Friday it was time for our monthly High Vibe Networking - 1 hour at 1pm on the 1st of the month - except for next month, 'cos, y'know, Cheese Hangover and all that... (it's on the 9th Jan instead) This is our online event exclusively for ladies who are a member of the High Vibe Tribe community - if you're not in it already, come join us (link in the comments). After that, it was the start of Date Weekend at Ours - yes, we went for a whole weekend, because we'd not done a Date Day for a while, and December is shaping up to be busy, so we thought 'why the Hell not?' We went on Road Trips, went out for food, lazed around, put the Christmas Decs up and started the Christmas Shopping - it was Fab-U-Lous! Today, I'm starting off with more networking at WOman Wjo online networking for an hour.... Networking is a super important part of my business, and as I continue to work on my visibility in 2024, I am aiming to do a variety of networking, that gives me a good average of 3/4 events per month. Yes, you might think that's a lot, but there will be such a mix of different styles, times, and formats, that it will be easily manageable - because I'll plan it that way! One of those will be the Gretat Women in Business Meet Up on International Women's Day 2024 - Friday 8th March. This is going to be a huge networking event, where the aim is for you to come and make new connections - or deepen existing ones! It's another collab between myself, Sandra Garlick MBE, Sharon Louca 💎, and Karen Heap, and will once again bring together our 4 women's networks and attract new ladies to join us too! I will be giving up on LinkedIn after 20 days. But before I do that, I'll implement what Haoma Worgwu is teaching on her 20 days LinkedIn challenge. This time last year, I was ignorant of how to use LinkedIn, and I wasn't active here like most of you are. I started my 2024 as an active LinkedIn user and am glad for the community it has given me, but one thing I am very intentional about is elevating my profile and providing more value to you. 📌 Why the 20 days challenge?
