Today ,09-Aug-2024 marks a significant milestone in my professional journey—2 decades working in IT industry 🎉 As I reflect on this incredible journey, I am filled with immense gratitude and cherished memories. This day, then with bunch of my batchmates in Wipro Technologies, Hyderabad,many of us still connected here, all freshly campus selected from colleges , getting inducted in SAP ABAP, that was unheard then, excited about free tea, coffee and badam milk in the monsoons would always be vivid ! It has not only been a career choice but a path that has shaped and liberated me in ways I could never have imagined. From the early days when there were traces of discussions to now consciously and aggressively breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes, each challenge has been an opportunity to grow and learn. The industry has evolved, and so have I, with every project, every team,every leader, every manager,every mentor and every opportunity pushing me to expand my horizons. There were times when I used to draw a line between personal and working self. Now I effortlessly take it as toggling of personas between these two selves like the electron spins. I still remain the same with different manifestations in personal and work life and how closely these 2 avatars are related ! This empowers me to align better in all aspects of my life. My career has been a source of empowerment, allowing me to find my voice, assert my ideas, and contribute to projects efficiently.It has given me the strength to face challenges head-on, knowing that with perseverance, anything is possible. Through these 2 decades, my work helped to liberate and enable me to make choices that align with my moral values and my subjective perceptions of every situation.This journey has not just been about professional growth but also about breaking free from societal constraints. My experiences with the orgs and people,worked with,is instrumental in shaping the person I am today. Its fantastic to be part Infosys ltd. for 13.5 years now and more to come, which is 2/3rd of my active working period yet in one of the most valued organizations in the globe. I’ve learned the importance of integrity, adaptability and continuous learning in this fast-paced industry. And most importantly, I’ve learned to trust in my own capabilities. Let’s continue to uplift each other, break down barriers and create a future with thriving opportunities for all. LinkedIn has been witnessing the good bad and the ugliness of our perceptions towards multifaceted work culture,the cries and celebrations of our work events,its analogous to peepal tree in Andaman cellular Jail, that witnessed relatable expressions of freedom fighters around Indian independence.Kudos to the LinkedIn team for being so aware of needs and asks of the audience to keep it clean. I started my first job on 21th Jan, 2008 with MytecSoft — that made yesterday my 16th work anniversary… When you move from one job to another, one project to another, all that goes on in your mind, is that you have to keep going, keep working. My career goal was to simply make the most of opportunities given to me, and to keep learning and growing incrementally. When you look back it feels like a lifetime… A career span is made up of so many highs and lows, that it becomes difficult to pick out one or two… Thus, it is an opportune time to thank every person who has supported me in the last 16 years, who has encouraged me and instilled faith in me… I’m grateful for the tremendous support from Leaders, readers and mentors, who kept me going every time I doubted myself… And of course, not to forget family and friends — without them none of it would have been possible. I don’t know what I’ll be doing in the coming years, but I’m happy where I am now…and that’s all that matters. One of the big difference you will see as you transition from a beautiful college campus to another and maybe more beautiful Infosys/TCS/Wipro.. campuses is. ****************** How a feedback is given to you. In colleges and schools it is quite standard and meticulous system. You get feedback on each and every subject and each and every section. You exactly know where you are lacking, if you want to improve. In corporate there is no such system. Your Boss, mostly likely, isn’t going to spend much time in identifying your improvement areas (you are super lucky otherwise, don't leave him/her) He or she is most likely to just thrash you for non-performance. Sometimes hurt your ego deliberately, to push you harder. In corporate, it becomes your responsibility to decipher the feedback. Find the improvement areas and work on them.
