I, Steve Mencik and Diana-Lynn Contesti appear to have 330+ supporters who’d like to see us in the (ISC)2 Board of Directors ballot. Sadly, 330+ is not enough, and the deadline for at least 500 supporters is about now. Steve already made his conclusions earlier, now it’s my turn.
No, I won’t be saying so long and thanks for all the fish: I still have a bit under 20 years until retirement by law, despite putting in about 30 already.
However, I am saying that I need to rethink how to advise decision-makers about how to assess the expertise of an expert, and that’s a tough one. I also need to rethink how much voluntary work I will put into (ISC)2’s certifications in the future. For certificates that require no maintenance, I will not volunteer at all, as I see no value in them — except for the seller. Note that this is not just an (ISC)2 problem, it’s more about the certificates and certifications becoming (or already being) merchandise — which they should not be.
Thanks for those who supported us, for those who consider CISSP not just a bunch of letters. #cissp #isc2
