Formal education lack the relevance in societies' fast-paced changes and today's interdisciplinary demands by various industry. Europe lack the talent to propel its economic growth, so too most developed nations in Asia and America. While other parts of the world enjoy abundant human capital to boost their economy for several years to come, in short: Demographic bonus. Understanding this phenomena the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Indonesia launch Kurikulum Merdeka, loosely translated as the education freedom. Formal education institutions such as universities and school connects with industry, while non-formal education or vocational-education enjoy substantial boost. Riding the wave of this new education trend, many forms of business model arise. One such model is visualized by the following Management model for industry-driven training and vocational courses.

Assessing a country's #education level involves considering metrics like "average years of schooling." Indonesia, with an average of 8.6 years, falls below the global average. Another crucial indicator is the percentage of people completing tertiary education, illustrated in Pictures 1 and 2. For effective downstreaming of the economy, a well-trained workforce is essential, including higher education graduates. However, the work report from the higher education directorate released in 2022 reveals that only 74.4% of college graduates secure employment within one year of graduation, with estimates dropping to below 70% within six months. This poses a dual challenge: policymakers need to foster #job creation and a dynamic #labormarket, while tertiary education institutions must adapt curricula to ensure graduates are job-ready, including #entrepreneurship. Addressing these challenges concurrently is key to unlocking Indonesia's vast potential on the global stage. Dadang Amir Hamzah Agus Fernando #tertiaryeducation #highereducation #indonesia

Happy to share our work on "Issues and challenges of technology use in Indonesian schools: Implications for teaching and learning" Our paper mainly aims to explore issues and challenges in using technology to support teaching and learning in various schools located on three different islands in Indonesia, such as in Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua islands. The exploration was done through a holistic literature review of 30 national and local newspapers and online articles relevant to the aim of the study. We performed a peer debriefing activity to ensure the credibility of our review. While the results communicated various things, we could highlight some commonalities: unequal distribution of technology support or facilities in schools, creative ways to support teaching and learning practices regardless of the very minimum facilities that schools have, and continuous support from the Indonesian government and private sectors to improve school technology-supported facilities.
