Did you know? Policies that support economic stability and mobility play a key role in preventing child abuse and neglect. These policies, like childcare subsidies, help reduce financial stress for families. In the U.S., childcare subsidies are provided to low-income families to offset the high cost of childcare. Our research finds that when states make it easier for families to qualify for and maintain childcare subsidies, child abuse and neglect are reduced. Visit PCA America's website to read our research on the important role of economic supports as a child maltreatment prevention strategy. https://lnkd.in/gGg4b6yS #ChildcareSubsidies #PreventionIsPossible #ChildWellbeing #PrimaryPreventionEcosystem #HealthyCommunities #ThrivingFamilies

From Policy Matters Ohio's recent newsletter, "$10.52: Amount of every hour’s wages a parent who is working full-time year-round would spend on child care for one infant and one toddler at an average-cost child care center in Ohio." Economic and workforce development in Ohio and the region MUST include better access & funding for childcare. People can't work or return to work because they don't have safe and reliable childcare for their children. #childcarecrisis

Enrollment vs Attendance Billing for the Maine Child Care Subsidy Program (CCSP) is coming to an end September 30, 2023. The biggest piece of the update is to be sure youth are attending childcare programs for the minimum amount of hours needed to support the program cost, and to ensure families do not become responsible for additional childcare costs. CCSP uderstands that things happen and they allow providers to submit for excused absences. We all have lives and things come up - when your child is unable to attend programs, be sure to inform the provider of the when and why. Check out the memo sent out by CCSP regarding some reasonable causes for a provider to submit excused absence time and updates to award hours going forward. #ChildcareAssistance #ChildCareSubsidyProgram #CCSPMaine #OCFS #FamiliesFirst #AfterSchoolPrograms #ChildcareProviders #SupportingMaineFamilies

Are you making good use of Tax-free childcare? Tax-Free Childcare is available to working families to help you save on your childcare costs. However, many people may not be making use of this provision and with the Easter break soon upon us, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is encouraging families who have not yet signed up to consider doing so. Tax-Free Childcare can be worth up to £2,000 annually per child, or £4,000 if your child is disabled. It can be used to help pay for approved childcare for children aged 11 and under, or 16 and under if they have a disability. Furthermore, from April 2024, parents in England will experience a significant boost in free childcare support, thanks to a phased extension of existing schemes.
