The HCC Coder will ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records, which are essential for risk adjustment and determining appropriate reimbursement in value-based care models. Reporting to the Supervisor, Risk Adjustment Coding & Education, the primary focus will be on reviewing and validating electronic based medical charts to ensure accuracy of the HCC codes captured. At the end of 2022, I decided to stretch myself and jump into the legal field. and Digital Health made me do it! 😃 I left the conventional clinical practice, and ventured into the world of medical records review for a legal tech firm in the U.S. Why? I wanted first hand experience with some of the best electronic health record systems in the world. But in the end I got so much more! I learnt just how vital EHRs and medical records reviewers are to the legal and financial sectors. My specific role was in litigation support for personal injury cases. Mainly motor vehicle collisions, dog bites, slip and falls... You can find reviewers in medical malpractice cases too I provided analysis and generated summaries of medical records, and letters of demand. Essentially, I assessed medical necessity and translated complex medical jargon into terms that lawyers could understand and use to build strong cases. Cool superpower, I know! 🦸♀️ Our insights significantly influenced the outcomes of the legal proceedings, making us an invaluable part of the team.
