Here’s a quick hack you can use to instantly 10x your results with cold email: Always remind yourself you’re talking to a human. Most of you forget that you’re talking to a human behind a screen, and you send outreach messages as if you’re talking to a robot. Here’s a quick practice you can do to make your messages sound more natural: 1. Go up to a friend or co-worker 2. Randomly say your outreach script outloud If they give you a weird/confused look as if you’re an NPC… revise and repeat this process until they don’t. Watch how FAST your results improve after doing this practice.

Choose Human Connection: Experience Real Engagement Over Bots 1. How do you differentiate between bot interactions and genuine connections? 2. What value do you place on human interaction in your professional life?

"Is this notification useful?" What does that even mean? Sure, ambiguously speaking, notifications "like this" can definitely be useful. Was this particular notification useful? No. I'm not very interested in these connections or this specific topic. Had it been other connections and another topic, a notification "like this" might have been useful. Personalization is only ever good if it's personal. And unambiguous.

Short-circuiting explained: People tend to talk about each other, but not with each other. An internal customer is complaining that a developer promised to deliver in 6 weeks and that was 12 weeks ago! “They never deliver as promised! I even kept sending emails to remind him, but these were simply ignored." I went to the developer. "I heard that you were going to deliver a design in six weeks, but that’s already 12 weeks ago. What’s the story?" "Well, actually I don’t exactly know what they want. There are so many options. Should I solve it this way, at quite some cost, or just do it quick and dirty. What do they really want? I’ve sent them an email, but I didn’t get an answer." Short-circuiting I got them both in a room. Within 10 minutes the questions were resolved and a plan made. Within two weeks the design was done. Everybody happy. Note that initially it’s useful to have a moderator at the short-circuit meeting, because usually they first start complaining and defending. The moderator cuts that short, lets them tell their position, and asks what really was the question and the expected outcome. This way people quickly come to a common understanding and are quite capable of solving the issue. After a few times, people learn that they can do this themselves and get issues out of the way quickly, making their life easier. Now they can focus on the things they can do, rather than spending energy in their mind about the things they think they cannot do. “Getting in the room” isn’t enough. Early in your career, learn how to “BE in the room” What is “the room”? It’s where big shit happens. Where the company heavy hitters hang, debates light up, creative ideas blossom, and decisions are solidified. It’s the place you’ll find growth. You’ll learn from the best, generate the best work, and create the most impact. Getting into the room is actually the easy part. Contributing meaningfully and maximizing your time there is far more difficult. Here is a simple playbook to follow: 🤓Prepare You have researched the subject matter deeply. You’ve read the pre-reads, researched independently, prepped thoughtful questions from your identified gaps of understanding. You understand the goal of the conversation. You also have a sense of what you can uniquely contribute, and what you need from the conversation to move forward. 👋🏼Show up You look clean, awake and alert. You make lots of eye contact, and have a general positive disposition. If virtual, your video is on. You're not multi-tasking or messaging on the side to “look busy”. 🎙️Engage You participate when you have value to add or a thoughtful question to prompt. You confidently own your curiosity, but you don’t derail the conversation. You take notes. You sit up and speak up. If virtual, you don’t rely on the chat feature to participate. 📋Follow Through You make sure the conversation ends with clear next steps. You jump on any AI’s that don’t have a clear owner. You deliver on those next steps timely and overcommunicate. 🔁Repeat The more reps you get with this cycle, the better you’ll be. It’s awkward at first and people won’t listen to you. But you’ll iterate and uncover your voice over time. Before you know it, people will want to be in the rooms that YOU run.
