Floating platforms.
The WFA wind farm consists of three wind turbines supported by three semi-submersible floating structures. The design is based on WindFloat technology developed by Principle Power Inc. This technology can expand the capabilities of oil drilling platforms to harness offshore wind energy. Main features of this technology:
It allows the installation of multi-megawatt wind turbines at depths of more than 50 m (164 ft).
Each wind turbine operates on top of a floating platform, moored to the seabed by cables and chains to ensure its stability.
The system eliminates the need for complex offshore operations associated with the construction of traditional fixed structures, thereby reducing its environmental impact.
The platform and wind turbine are assembled at the port and then towed to their location.
