QPAC is proud to join the global community in acknowledging the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This significant day, proclaimed by the United Nations, honours the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples worldwide while raising awareness about the challenges they continue to face. There are an estimated 476 million Indigenous Peoples in the world living across 90 countries. They make up less than six per cent of the world's population, but account for at least 15 per cent of the poorest. They speak an overwhelming majority of the world’s estimated 7,000 languages and represent 5,000 different cultures. In order to raise awareness of the needs of these population groups, every 9 August commemorates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, chosen in recognition of the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva in 1982. We’re thrilled to share this insightful video with Mapei General Manager Marco De Santis as he discusses the reasons behind the organisation’s partnership with QPAC. Although the alignment might not be obvious on the surface, a recognition of the importance of the arts and a long history of support – beginning in La Scala, Milan – brings it all together. With Clancestry now in full swing, we’d like to thank Energex for their support of this important celebration of First Nations arts and culture.   QPAC Head of First Nations Programming Bradley Chatfield and Director of First Nations Strategy Kurt Schulte-Schrepping recently visited the Energex team to talk about QPAC’s full First Nations program.   An iconic event part of QPAC’s calendar since 2013, Clancestry is a celebration of identity and connection, providing a platform for both established and emerging First Nations artists to share their stories, perspectives, and talents.

QPAC is currently looking for a motivated and artistic individual to join our Curatorial team in the full-time role of Operations Manager. The role has a particular focus on building connections within the curatorial team and home companies to deliver exceptional processes and support for the whole team. Just announced - Rachel Healy has been appointed as QPAC's next Chief Executive. Rachel brings an extraordinary breadth of expertise and knowledge from more than 20 years in the arts across multiple artforms, venues, festivals and arts management, alongside a limitless passion for the arts.
