Is Mountain Biking dying? 🤔 In short, no. But people are making the most of new ways to ride off-road. 📉 General interest in your old faithful analogue mountain bike is down, while many turn to gravel or E-MTB's to get their dirt fix. If you work in the cycling industry you can certainly see this playing out, but it was great to see the data courtesy of Doug Baker & SHIFT Active Media at their webinar ‘What’s Next 2024: A Data-Driven Look at Riders’ Appetite for Cycling in the Year Ahead’ this afternoon. Thanks for a great session with some fantastic insight and actionable advice! *Clearly I fall in with the trend, I'd never be without an e-bike now! #cyclingindustry #mountainbiking #data

I’d be interested to see the hard data on this (do you have a link?), while the ebike segment is definitely growing, I’m personally not convinced that analogue bike sales are losing much to ebike sales, more the market has grown as a whole.

Pedal assist e-bikes will be known as the dumbest trend in mountain bikes ever in less than 5 years, starting now.

The cost of eMTB is going to hit hard soon. The maintenance on them is insanely high. Nothing on the bike was intended for that weight and power. Even the new ebike rated stuff. Pivot bearings, shocks, gears, hubs etc. Service bills for eMTB regularly hit over £1000. Many owners will have these costs before they even pay off the finance of the original purchase.
