One of the highest forms of pure, authentic love is unconditional love for ourselves. This Valentine's, if the holiday triggers you, consider these 3 gentle reminders: 1️⃣ Take a break from social media this week. 2️⃣ Treat yourself! Whether it's buying flowers, enjoying a mani/pedi, or indulging in a relaxing massage, prioritize your well-being. 3️⃣ Make a commitment to release expectations and embrace the present moment. Gift-giving helps form strong bonds and build lasting relationships. 💝 Acts of service- Go that extra mile to help someone in a meaningful way that will support them. Ease out some of their daily responsibilities & burdens such as helping with the dishes, gardening, minding their toddler/s for a while, picking up groceries, etc. only to be loved or receive love in return. 💝 Physical touch - A tight hug, kiss or just a cuddle can do wonders when it comes to expressing love & care. 💝 Quality time - Just sparing some time off your busy schedule will also make your dear ones feel special & important. A family dinner, movie time, a long drive, etc. are a few options to choose from. Last but not the least, don't forget to love yourself. 💝 Self-love - Take care of yourself and your well being. Prioritize yourself by indulging in some self-care. Go for a facial, spa treatment, etc. Enjoy shopping or treat yourself to your favorite icecream & chocolates. As far as Valentine's Day is concerned, the choices we make often reflect our perceptions of love and self-worth. I suppose some finance conscious minds going beyond aesthetics and excitements would say, "It's okay if it is one or even if there's none"🤭 However, in reality the expectations run high on this day, a day dedicated to expressions of love. But what if we shifted the focus from waiting for others to show us love to appreciating and celebrating ourselves? I recently watched, a TikTok video about self-sent bouquets, which triggered memories of a similar act I did for my own birthday a decade ago. self-appreciation is essential, I still believe🙋♀️ Leaving behind the fancy gifts and surprises, I'm sure all of us would agree the true essence of Valentine's Day is in the thoughts, not the size or the investment made on the day. It's about the meaningful connections we share and the love we give, whether to others or ourselves. 🙋♀️ But 🙆♀️ but sometimes a sweet gesture of putting the effort to make a surprise, or going extra miles to make that special someone feel special is awesome. It is certainly a commendable gesture. ⌛As the day unfolds, don't feel if no one surprises you with a gift. Instead, give yourself a tight hug and wish yourself a Happy Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day! I actually thought that this day was "invented" by American companies like Hallmark and Hershey's for commercial reasons, because we didn't really celebrate it here when I was younger and now you can't get around it. So this was a great opportunity to dive a bit deeper into the beginning of this day. It was very interesting to read that Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day already exists since the 3rd century and that people started to send each other poems and love notes or valentine's since the 14th century. Imagine, no internet, no companies wanting to profit off the day, no tv, nothing like what we have, and still people send each other love notes! Talking about the power of love! 🩷 Does this mean that Valentine's Day is exclusively for lovers or soon-to-be lovers? Nope! There is something called self-love! Yes! SELF-love. Today could be the perfect day to start practicing self-love. Figure out what you love best; 💘is it words of affirmation? Do you love to say nice words to yourself, like that you're awesome or wonderful? 💘is it spending quality time on and with yourself? Inviting yourself out for dinner or going to the movie you really love to see or..... 💘is it physical touch? Do you love to take care of your skin or your hair or doing something to make your body feel and look great? 💘is it receiving gifts? Do you love to receive gifts like a book, a pretty mug, candles, chocolates? 💘or is it an act of service? Do you love it when someone does something for you so that you can take a rest?
