More than 100 years ago, Save the Children International founder Eglantyne Jebb drafted the first ‘Declaration of the Rights of the Child’. As we mark World Childrens Day, more than 100 years later, we desperately need a reminder that it is out collective bargaining duty to ensure that: 1. Every child should be given what they need to grow up happy and healthy. 2. When a child is hungry, they must be fed. When they are sick, they must be cared for. And when they need support, shelter or guidance, they must be given it. 3. Whenever there is a crisis, children should be the first to receive aid. 4. Every child should be protected against exploitation, and given the chance to earn a living, when the time comes. 5. Cost of living in Canada is beyond manageable. Taxing people to death is going to lead to more of this. The cost of rent in this country is absolutely insane. Imagine what it must be like to not be able to house your family in the dead of a Canadian winter. I understand why they're removing the shelters, but a better place to start would be reducing the cost of "SURVIVAL", not living, in Canada. Literally being "taxed" to death in this country. This week, old man winter returns from his vacation, and he is taking his job seriously, I wish our government would do the same. More people are being forced to live on the streets because of mortgage rates moving beyond their ability to pay, who do you think this benefits? The rich people able to buy those "bank owned" houses and charge outlandish rents on. The problem couldn't be more clear. STOP the cost of survival "hockey stick", unlike the other one, this hockey stick is real.
