Many of us have been laid off due to the current economic situation, and we are all experiencing the same frustrations. Like Carolina, I have been silent for a long time, but I feel that it is essential to let our community know that WE need help! It's the end of the 1st quarter and it seems it's more difficult now to get a job than ever before. During this journey, I have met many people who have offered various suggestions, such as "Get a Coach (for a fee)," "Rebrand and Update your LinkedIn profile," "Send a message to the job poster," and "Use other resources besides LinkedIn to find your next job." While these resources are helpful, some have shared that they have tried everything and are still struggling to find employment. It can be frustrating that recruiters often express interest in candidates and their backgrounds, but for some unknown reason, they fail to follow up and work with the candidates. Recruiters: please stop doing this and communicate with the candidates! Now, I understand that the job search process can be mentally and physically challenging. However, I urge you not to lose hope and stay focused on finding your next employment opportunity. Remember that there are kind-hearted individuals who are willing to assist you without expecting anything in return. Recruiters: Reach out to candidates TODAY, as You could be the Joy that fills their Hearts, by getting them a Job, that will help them Survive!

Unstoppable layoffs – but we can make a difference. Layoffs have become an unfortunate reality for many. Companies, big and small, are cutting back. But there's hope. Here's how we can lend a helping hand: 1. Share job openings - Do you know of open positions? Spread the word! 2. Offer recommendations - Write a LinkedIn recommendation for a colleague or connection in need. 3. Be a sounding board - Listen to those affected and empathize with their struggles. 4. Share resources - make lists of job boards, networking events, or skill-building courses. 5. Leverage your network - Introduce job seekers to potential connections. Let's face it: there's been a massive increase in layoffs across various industries, especially tech, in the past year. One of the most helpful (and easy!) things you can do for someone in the thick of their job hunt is introducing them to your connections. The reality is this: job seekers' applications are going into the abyss when they apply through popular sites like LinkedIn or indeed; however, the power of an intro can go so far, especially if it's to someone at the company they're applying to. I say all of this to emphasize: my offer still stands to help bridge connections in your job hunt. If you are a job seeker and you see someone in my connections that you could use an introduction to, please don't hesitate to ask. #bettertogether

This has marked my 2nd month since I experienced a layoffs the firsthand. It's a grueling period. Nothing more, nothing less. When you need a job, it's a typical story of getting ghosted by recruiters. The usual stuff. However, not all experience is a bad one. I'm fortunate enough to have a good time in the job hunting. Where I can talk easily with the recruiters. And one of them even gave me an encouragement that it's not the end of the world. It is. But for sure, it's almost the end of my severance package, lol. As an attempt to give value to my suffering. I tried to create a data-driven approach, by tracking my whole process: how many jobs I applied, from which platform, how many passed the screening, how many went thru the interview, until finally how many ended up as an offering letter. But after constant rejection, my spirit broke 🤡. So the tracker stopped at around 200+ job application. Hahaha. (Edited: Fat finger incident on the job application amount) I may try to complete it. Create a pretty deck. And who knows it may be helpful for jobseekers out there. That you're not alone in this cesspool called "The cycle of job application and get ghosted" Life's hard. But we can make it through.

The job search process is hard for many people right now, but remember that layoffs, rejections, failures don’t define you I have a friend who called me crying because she was laid off and has been on the market ever since. She shared her frustration with job rejections and ghostings There’s a lot happening in the world right now. For those of you looking for jobs, don’t give up on yourself. Leverage resources, update your resume, brush up some skills, and if you have to pick up a side hustle or something in the meantime to cover the bills, go for it. For those of you with hiring power, make things easier for candidates by drafting a good JD, do a careful review and choose wisely. For everybody else, let’s be of help. Let’s share resources, be a connector. Let’s not put others down when they share their experiences online. They already have it hard enough. Let’s do better. Let’s be better. We’re in the early stages of 2024 and thousands have been laid off. People are looking for jobs left and right. Jobseeker, recent laid off person, candidate: You’re going through a lot, but we’re hopeful a new opportunity will come your way. Your current circumstance don’t define where you will be. These layoffs, rejections, failures… they don’t define you. Let’s work on changing these - for the better.

I know a lot of people are feeling sad, frustrated, or stressed due to the layoffs that they have experienced, and I want to say I'm really sorry if you're going through this. I too, was affected by a layoff in the past and I know it's tough to process. For those of you who are experiencing this now, I want to tell you that things will get better. My advice is to take some time, process this, and have a strong game plan. Know exactly what kind of job you want to focus on and build your job search strategy from there. One piece of advise for those on my team that were affected, and for anyone, really, who has been laid off recently: ⚡ Don't turn the job hunt into your full time gig, don't let it become your obsession. Each day, checkout the new job postings, and apply. Then disconnect and do something else - anything else. For me, I have to physically leave my home office. The more I sit in front of my laptop, the more I want to dwell on the search (whether its going well or not), and the more it depresses me. 😢 So don't dwell - do what you need to do, and then disconnect. Obviously keep your phone with you for calls/emails from potential employers and recruiters, but don't stare at the email screen or the LinkedIn feed or the job boards waiting for something to change. I am about to go and mow my lawn and enjoy the sunshine. Any other advise for those hit by layoffs? Comment below - I could use all the help I can get!

Ask the right questions - One basic for Recruiters.

Hi Dear Folks, This post is not related to a job, but it concerns a thought that I would like to share here. As you all must be aware, there have been significant layoffs already and they are still happening. People are struggling immensely to secure a job, and at the same time, recruiters are putting their best efforts into finding the right position where your skills will be a better fit. Personally, for me, if any of my candidates get an offer, it feels like I got the offer :). You have no idea how much effort we put into getting a placement for you. I have a request for a few of the folks who have just become available in the job market, only for the sake of testing the market or their market value. You're wasting everyone's efforts, time, and emotions, from the recruiter to the hiring manager, whosoever is involved in between. And in the end, you just decline the offer by giving silly excuses. Because of you, many candidates who actually need that position and are well deserving for the role keep applying for jobs and struggling immensely. I kindly request people who are in my connections and if you are working with me to find you the best opportunity, please don't agree to or submit to jobs just to test your value or the market scenario. If you genuinely need a job, I will put every effort into getting you there. 🙏 🙏 🙏
