I've said it before, and I'll repeat it: sales is about building relationships and helping others solve their problems. Like how a doctor listens to their patients, analyzes their symptoms, and then offers a specific intervention, sales follow the same protocol. It's both an art and a science! 👂 Built rapport with your prospects by actively listening to their needs/challenges. 🔎 Analyze what they said and think of what they need. Sometimes, your solution may not suit them, and that's okay! They'll appreciate your integrity. 🎁 Does your solution solve their problem? If so, it's a match! People buy from people they trust.

The Service Business Coach… Service businesses are unique they don’t deliver ‘stuff’ they deliver experiences & solutions tailored to your needs. This is what makes makes service businesses truly special.
If your customers/clients are better off with your product/service why wouldn't you 'help' them to buy? The alternative is allowing them to buy a sub-quality product/service from one of your competitors Why would you do that?

Recent conversation with a sales director; “Is ‘No’ one of your targets?” “Des, what on Earth do you mean?” “I don’t mean polite ‘no’ or ‘let us think about it’ or ‘we’ll get back to you’, I mean a very defined ‘no’” “Why would we make that a metric?” “Because to get definitive ‘no’s’ your team would need to; talk to more customers, ask more questions, attempt to close, or get to the route of rejection”…… Target your sales function on ‘No’s’ it will bring so many more ‘yes’

Thee sales professional develops the skill and talents necessary to look within the customer and find the needs of the customer, to uncover existing needs. These needs may be on the surface or just below the surface, but they definitely exist. Your duty (and opportunity) as a sales professional is to get those needs out into the open and meet them.

Fractional Sales Leadership | Sales Training and Coaching | Helping others do a good work in the world through sales
Can you be both honest AND successful in sales? I had a conversation with a colleague the other day and they determined, early on in their professional lives, that they could NOT be a sales professional. They didn't feel they could be both ethical AND successful in sales. It's heartbreaking that a competent, capable person feels like they can't engage in a career like sales because they’ll have to compromise their integrity to do it well. As humans who sell, believe it or not, we have a responsibility to the future of our profession. The seeds of distrust we've sowed with our prospects over the years have deterred some good people from joining us. Our choice to sell with integrity today can create a more positive perception of sales for the generations to come. Let's do our part to ensure the profession of sales becomes synonymous with honesty, integrity, and virtuousness—if not for us, for those who come after us.
