Yesterday marked a historic day for moving the United States closer to the elimination of Hepatitis C. The FDA approved the first HCV Point of care RNA test on June 27 2024. Thank you to the FDA, the CDC, NIH/NIBIB, the RADx-Tech ITAP program, the test manufacturer Cepheid and the many colleagues and clinical sites involved in this tremendous collaboration. None of this would have been possible without all of you and the vision of Dr Francis Collins. Vitor Rocha Joshua M. Sharfstein Christian Ramers Tim Leshan Rebekah E. 2moThis is great news! This will speed the effort to identify those with Hepatitis C and link them to treatment. Now we need Congress to pass legislation to pay for Hep. C Elimination Plan that will enable those most in need to gain access to the drugs that will cure them. Thank you Rachael and Dr. Collins for your leadership on this critical effort to get this test approved.
