After I solved this The Wall Street Journal literary puzzle, I had a favorite gluten-free treat my tummy likes, General Mills Lucky Charms. Blindly, I reached in the Lucky Charms bag… 🌈 and 🦄 marshmallows It brought me real joy and encouragement. There is no such thing as luck when you’re made for a purpose and you see life unfolding with a grander purpose. You see, we’ve faced some unusual circumstances that challenged our joy. When Celin joined us a few years ago, we realized we would need to reset her negative mindset. She had came from a challenging childhood, and the people who spoke into her life were not believers, nor did they think that being loving and kind went further than bullying and harsh actions. We came up with a silly saying to be positive and not take the moment so seriously, “Think rainbows 🌈 and unicorns🦄” If you’re in a bad spot, facing unsettling circumstances that challenge your joy, you can use our saying. It’s based on James 1:2 😏 .🌸 When my boys see me lose my mind, juggling responsibilities and feeling overwhelmed, they know just what to say. Persevere, Mom 🌈 and 🦄 And this weekend, with a joyful time with the kids at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Beach Bash, I am dropping in to encourage you to chase after joy, and reset your mind and heart. #Thinkpositively What is more positive than Rainbows 🌈 and Unicorns🦄? Tips and Traps   Recently, I was watching a Disney movie with our grandchildren. It had been a fun active day, and it was time to wind down before bedtime. As is our tradition, we made some hot chocolate and settled down to watch a movie before bedtime. We were swiping through movies and found a movie called “Leo.” We had not seen it before, and this was our choice. By the end of the movie the kids were all sleeping. Mission accomplished. Yet that is not the point of this post. The premise of the movie is a wise, 75 year old lizard shares his wisdom with a class of fifth graders that change each of their lives for the better.   One scene hit home and made me pause. The character, Summer, struggles with building relationships with her peers because she talks not stop. She does this out of fear or nervousness and her desire to fit in. Don’t we all suffer from that kind of anxiety at one time or another?   His advice was simple and twofold:   Tips: 1.     Listen more than you speak. 2.    Ask questions about the other person. Most people like to share. Ultimately, our life is more fulfilled with good relationships and our work life is more productive. Simple advice well received. #wisdom #relationshipbuilding #Business

Last night, an example of unfiltered joy appeared on my doorstep. She was about 3 feet tall, full of energy, and wearing a princess costume. She was my first trick-or-treater, and she set the bar high. The knock was firm and determined. The "trick-or-treat" was exuberant and heartfelt. And as she chose her candy from my carefully curated sugar buffet, she could not have been more excited. She ran back toward the sidewalk cheerfully, exclaiming, "Daddy, I got trick or treat!" Now, I'm pretty sure this child has had candy before. And I'd bet this wasn't her first go-round with a bag of Skittles. So why was she so excited? It wasn't what she had. It was how she got it. Yes, she probably likes candy. But she loved trick or treating. She was immersed in the experience. Even after picking her candy, when her mom asked her, "What do you say?" "Thank you" did not cross her mind. She quickly and excitedly said, "Trick or Treat!" So why am I telling you this story? Because we can learn something from that little bundle of energy. It's not what we get. It's HOW we get it that makes the difference. How we're thinking, how we're responding, how we're making our decisions. That's why you look at your life and all of its blessings and still feel the urge (and sometimes guilt) of wanting more. No matter what you have or what you do, if you're not enjoying how you're doing it, it feels a whole lot more like a trick than a treat. When I'm coaching, I don't spend much time on "if" a goal will be achieved. We know that it will. We focus on how you'll go about it so you can do well and feel good in everything you do. We focus on the treats!

Friends should: - Care. - Laugh a lot. - Discuss your failures. - Explore each other's fears. - Know when to push the envelope. - Know when to leave it alone. - Be there when it is worth celebrating. - Be there when it hurts. - Talk about everything and nothing at the same time. - Laugh a lot. - Laugh a lot. - Laugh a lot. - Laugh a whole lot. In the journey of life and career... Having true friends by your side makes all the difference.

What I Learned from Rosie, My Canine Confidante This past Sunday, I said my final farewell to Rosie, a constant presence in my life for almost seven years. While she may have been just a dog to some, Rosie was a beacon of empathy, unconditional love, and innate wisdom. From Rosie, I learned: 🐾 Empathy is a universal language. Rosie had an innate ability to sense my feelings, whether I was ecstatic or sad. Her empathetic nature reminded me of the power of understanding and connecting with others without uttering a word. 🐾 Unconditional love is transformative. No matter my mistakes, no matter the day, Rosie greeted me with the same wagging tail and boundless love. It’s a lesson about judging less and loving more. 🐾 Live in the moment. Rosie had an unmatched zeal for the present. Whether it was chasing a ball outside, her impeccable timing every night as we settled in to watch a show to bring out her favorite squeaky toy, or simply laying by my side, she was wholly present, reminding me to savor every moment. Rosie’s legacy is not just in our shared memories but in the life lessons she instilled in me. While she may have left this world, her teachings remain, pushing me to be a more compassionate, understanding, and present individual in my personal and professional life. In honoring Rosie, I encourage us to embody her principles. Because in the end, it’s not just about business strategies or networking skills but about the authentic connections and unconditional love we share. #empathy #wecare #authentic #connections

Happy Wednesday! Top of the week :) One of my all-time heroines was Audrey Hepburn. To be honest, I dreamt of being her - especially in Roman Holiday where she has the courage to get all her hair chopped off!! More specifically however, one of her quotes (of which many are quite powerful and profound) is this: The best thing we can hold onto is each other. In TEA Mastery (Time:Energy:Attention) creating a support structure around us is an important foundation step. And, one simple way we can build support, get support, feel supported is through the HUG! It's powerful, not mushy btw. 🤗We can hug another human(s) 🌴We can hug nature (tree?) 🐶We can hug animals (pet) 🧣We can even hug things (I often wrap myself in a favourite scarf!) In a world where we are more technologically connected, we have never been more disconnected in terms of humanity. Kindness often takes the most courage of all... I was reading a Dogman book to my youngest tonight, he really likes it, and at first glance it's just a graphic novel, though if you know Dogman well, you know it's cool and has great messages. Going with the crowd because you feel you need to 'tow' the line often feels like you're a fraud, and ultimately leads to unhappiness long term - it's not who you really are if you wouldn't choose to do it without social or career pressure. So going against the crowd takes courage, and celebrating people who respectfully go against convention in a kind way, those who don't follow the 'crowd' and are kind with their approach, that's not something I see that often, especially here on LinkedIn (the algo doesn't celebrate it, and what gets measured gets done). So here's to all you breakers of convention, all those people who do what they feel is right and kind, not just what everyone else is doing. I celebrate you, and I hope others do too. Convention isn't just boring, it's often not the most effective approach. I hope you feel comfortable taking an approach that's right for you, and not because you're worried about social norms or career limits.
