“The best onboarding experience I have had in a business!” 😮😮😮 This year, we have transformed our employee onboarding experience at connective3. It wasn’t ‘bad’ before, but with our fully hybrid working model and the number of new starters we have joining us each month, we definitely saw areas we could do better! As part of the new process, our people team now has a week 1 and month 1 check-in with all new employees to check that they are settling in ok, they have everything they need, they are gelling with their team and to answer any questions they may still have. In these catchups, we have heard such amazing feedback on everything we are doing – it makes you realise just how important those first few weeks are to how your employees feel. My favourite change we have made is such a simple idea of having a new starter’s favourite biscuits and soft drink on their desks for their first day. It may be simple, but that little taste of comfort when you are in a completely new environment makes a world of difference. Love this - any other nuggets?? Or hey, could you just send me the whole procedure document in stage by stage please 😁 haha as a much smaller biz I'm always keen to learn from the bigger lot and especially with you guys across the country! We're onboarding right now, and I think the biggest issues with even just 1 new hire, is that the onboarding falls on already busy people, and it's hard to nuture/devote time to the tasks within. We're grateful our new hires recently have been good self-starters, but you still want to be present and available as much as possible - find myself second-guessing this a lot, and asking a lot of "are you ok?"s etc

Love this Rachel! It's all well and good doing the hard recruiting to find the perfect person but without the company investing into the onboarding process it can be a waste of time. I always like thinking about it like the honey moon phase. Well done on you and the team investing into this 👏
