Global financial recession or not ? There are many factors that point in that direction including :- Inverted yield curves Negative swap spreads Tightening credit standards Reduced commercial lending Distress in the commercial real estate (CRE) Declining industrial output Contracting world trade Increasing trade sanctions, Trade disruption from the Ukraine War Treasury bill rates below the rates available from the Fed’s reverse repo program (a sign of collateral scarcity) and many more. People are saying India is growing. This is just hoax. On ground level, if there is global financial crises, how India can grow in terms of export? If the world demand is contracting, will it not effect Indian exporters indirectly affecting domestic trade?

Was great joining Haidi Stroud-Watts bright and early on a Monday morning to discuss the macro week ahead. #China #exports contracted -14.5% y/y in July, as expected and down from a very negative -12.4% y/y in June. Somehow, the market had anticipated a modest recovery... However, preliminary indicators pointed to big downside risks. For example, new export orders contracted to 46.3 in July, the Caixin PMI (which captures a larger share of private sector exporters) turned negative and Korean exports declined more than expected to -16.5% y/y in July, down from -5.0% in June. Imports were also more negative than expected, resulting in a slightly positive net contribution to GDP via a larger surplus. But don't be fooled! Imports disappointed in spite of higher input prices, which suggests domestic #demand weakened further in July. Looking forward, we think this will likely translate into a data miss on the #CPI front tomorrow, which may fuel depreciatory pressures on the CNY.
