#InTheNews: From our partners at WellSpan Health and the story of a participant in the Gene Health Project who learned of his FH condition. “I didn’t want to have this genetic condition, but I do. Now I know. And I can do something about it, said Michael Ridinger. “What I learned from participating in The Gene Health Project was that 50% of the people with the genetic condition that I have (the FH condition) have a heart attack by the time they’re 50,” Michael recalls, after receiving a call from David Kann, MC, Medical Director of Precision Medicine at WellSpan Health. The Gene Health Project is an ambitious undertaking and the hope is to gather 100K samples from volunteers like Michael and use that information to learn who is going to get sick and who is less likely to get sick.
