"In 2022, there were roughly 1,730 runway incursions and as of July 24, 2023, there were 1,539 incursions this year, according to Federal Aviation Administration data cited by the Republican lawmakers." -NY Post It's been our contention, for some time, that the airline industry is a victim of its own success. Regional air travel in Europe has been vastly reduced due to their high-speed rail services. Swift and cost-effective implementation of HSR on existing, improved, and well-maintained freight track is a necessity to avoid airlline delays and the possibility of a terrible collision. So far, the Russian Roulette of near misses has been just a warning, it's only a matter of time before the hammer of circumstance lands on a loaded cylinder. HSR initiatives in the U.S. have involved very expensive exclusive and dedicated track proposals. Some states have required that such rail programs have to be privately funded. Few investors have come forward. The investors that have stepped-up have wanted their investment money guaranteed--100%--by the Federal government. Please see the below article on ISR (Indirect Source Rule) being proposed by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and how the supply chain is fighting back. We cannot have more regulation that pushes more cargo away. Pretty soon, we won't need any equipment - cranes, lifts, trucks or containers because all the business will be gone.
