Great to have our first product launched by LaunchDarkly at this event!!! Great milestone! Loved interacting with many industry experts at this event!
We just wrapped up an incredible 2 days at LaunchDarkly Galaxy where we unveiled our feature flag clean up product. It was exciting to see the LaunchDarkly team demo Gitar integrated with LaunchDarkly’s new UI – results of an intense few weeks of phenomenal collaboration that was full of energy! Galaxy 2024’s theme was “Shipping at the speed of Now”, and with the fast pace at which they collaborated with us and their eagerness to innovate, the LaunchDarkly team demonstrated that they practice what they preach. Jonathan Nolen, Zach Davis, Shannon Anahata Additional highlights: We heard some exciting new product features including better feature flag lifecycle management and release management from the LD team. We also heard from Sylvie Boenke-Bowden from AutoDesk, Austin Puckett from Clear, Olivia Sung from Amazon, and a number of other companies about how feature flags and LaunchDarkly can increase user engagement, create tailored experiences, and improve release safety. Looking forward to building on our collaboration with LaunchDarkly!

I'm excited to see that the Profile-Guided Optimization (PGO) technology we conceptualized and upstreamed at Uber is now a Google Cloud offering! The results are impressive: a 10% reduction in billable container time and CPU utilization, saving millions of dollars for Go customers. We added PGO to the Go compiler while at Uber and achieved similar savings across Uber’s massive fleet of Go services. I’m proud to have contributed our Go compiler changes to the community and delighted to see it now available to customers running Go services on GCP. Thank you Google for the collaboration! To learn more about PGO, read our 2-part Blog posts where we cover how PGO works under the covers and how to deploy PGO at scale in a production setting. Reach out if you’d like to deploy PGO for other languages or on other cloud platforms. Even though Java has been around for three decades, Null Pointer Exceptions (NPEs) remain a top challenge in large codebases! One of my top priorities at Uber was to measure and show reduction in NPEs that appeared in our logs, via an in-house developed tool called NullAway. Read below article from Lazaro Clapp to get insight on how to tackle NPE issues in production Java code: https://lnkd.in/gsEEfDMK
