📱 🎉 After years of high prices, mobile internet rates are finally dropping, thanks to new competition. 💥 Recent research by the Department of Pacific Affairs reveals that Telikom and Vodafone are offering better value compared to Digicel! . 📊 While all three have lowered their prices, Digicel's plans come with time-of-day restrictions, potentially disadvantaging users. ⏰ Despite improvements, some plans remain unattainable for low-income citizens. 💸 The introduction of new competition seems to have had a greater impact on prices than the earlier introduction of cable systems. 🌐 Which Telco Do you use for your mobile internet? . . 🔗🌐 Dev Policy via the Department Of Pacific Affairs #MobileInternet #PapuaNewGuinea #AffordableData #telecommunications #internet #nowyouknow

I will be speaking at Connected Britain in September. I always look forward to the Total Telecom events. They are fixed points in the annual sector calendar, where we can all get together and have meaningful debate as well as enjoying good old fashioned face-to-face conversations and networking - and a bit of fun thrown in for good measure. This year, Connected Britain coincides with the planned go-live date for One Touch Switching (OTS), which is close to my heart having worked hard to get the new switching rules introduced and been a founding board member representing new infrastructure providers at TOTSCo until last month. Also this year, Ofcom has just launched the Telecoms Access Review (TAR), the direction of which will determine the commercial and regulatory landscape for the UK telecoms sector between 2026 - 2031. Government is in the process of reviewing economic regulation in the UK and we are expecting more from DSIT during the next few months, potentially strengthening the rules for transparency and accountability that Ofcom must comply with. Finally, many expect the next year or two to be very busy in relation to industry consolidation. That process could influence the structure of the sector as well the regulatory and competitive dynamics - all of which will feed into the TAR, that Ofcom will be working on between now and March 2026. So, in short, there will be lots to discuss and debate and no doubt also lots of hugs and smiles during this year's Connected Britain. #TOTSCO #ConnectedBritain #TAR #TOTSCo
