Every Sunday at 7 a.m. I get a chance to have great conversations, but I just had an inspiring call with my mentor and Big Brother, Dr. Gerald Curry. He shared a list of the top 15 motivational speakers, and my name isn't on it... yet. I'm not bitter about it, but I'm determined to be on it.

See, I may not have accomplished everything they have, and the world may not know my story yet, but they will. They'll have no choice but to include me among the top 15.
Here's why I'm so sure:
In high school, they told me I didn't belong there because I failed my Maryland School Assessments and classes in middle school. So I was placed in a ninth-grade transitional class aka 9-t. I wasn't a general or special ed student; I wasn't considered a student. Yet, I finished in the top 10%, and ranked 9th among my class in 2006.
After I dropped out of North Carolina Central University to become a young father, I enrolled in North American Trade Schools - Company. If you know me, you know I'm no builder, and technical jobs weren't my thing. I knew nothing about the industry or becoming an electrician, but I finished at the top of my class.
Then Stevenson University, at the time, was a predominantly white, private liberal arts school known for being an all-female university. I'm as "city" as they come, respectfully. The two don't mix. When I arrived, I still struggled academically. Still, I finished at the top of my class, even earning an award at graduation, and was recently recognized with the "Young Alumni Award." I plan to be the most recognizable person to have ever attended the university and the best commencement speaker they ever had.
The list goes on, but these are just a few examples. I may not know when, but I'm always prepared. My story is still being written, and I will make history, and God will get all the glory.
