Youth Sports Draft Days is here to help! Through Team Formation, we can help Your Team with Fundraising. Whether Your Team is a Recreational League Team seeking Parity or Balanced Team to drive Development or Your Team is a Select or Club Team that holds Tryouts to fill open roster spots by invitation to join. Or Your Team is a Scholastic High or Middle School Team that holds tryouts to evaluate players prior to forming their most competitive teams to represent your school. All have Player Pools from which Teams are formed. And All have Fundraising needs to support their Team for equipment and travel, etc. Youth Sports Draft Days is here to make the Team Formation process Exciting and Engaging while rewarding Organizations for their participation by making donations back to them. Our Team Formation Platform is basically FREE ($1) for The Organization to use to form their Teams. The fundraising is created by The Players and Parents of those in The Player Pools that tryout or are already related to The Team or Organization. For them to watch and participate in the Team Formation function by Drafting, they pay a fee of $5. They do this from their vested interest in the outcomes and knowing that 1/3 of the revenue generated by their participation is being donated back to their Organization as a Pre Season Fundraiser. Whenever someone asks me whether I think LeBron or Jordan is the GOAT, this is my response... It depends what we're comparing. Both players have their fair share of accolades, of course - NBA Championships, League MVPs, scoring titles, All-Star selections, etc. 💪🏾 💍 🏆 ➡️ Jordan has a perfect 6-0 record in the NBA Finals, compared to LeBron's 4-6 record. But LeBron has won championships with three different franchises and has lasted 21 seasons in the league (and counting), to Jordan's 15 seasons. ➡️ LeBron has the record for most career points scored in NBA history, while Jordan sits at #5 on that list. But Jordan has won a Defensive Player of the Year award in addition to his MVP seasons, something LeBron has never been able to achieve. The deciding factor for me is this: What has been their impact beyond the court? 🌎 🙌🏾 Everybody wanted to "Be Like Mike" in the 1990s and his image as the face of the NBA helped to popularize basketball globally. His brand, Air Jordan, revolutionized sports marketing and his shoes alone are a cultural phenomenon, generating billions in sales annually. 👟 💸 Jordan has also contributed to social justice initiatives as a philanthropist, but not really until after he retired from basketball and he's remained primarily behind-the-scenes with these efforts… LeBron on the other hand has a social impact portfolio that's levels above: 📈 ✅ Launched the LeBron James Family Foundation, serving 1,400+ kids annually in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. ✅ Provides educational programs, mentorship, and resources to support families in his community. ✅ Founded the I PROMISE School in 2018, in partnership with Akron Public Schools. ✅ Offers full-tuition scholarships to the University of Akron for I PROMISE graduates. ✅ In 2020, he co-founded More Than A Vote, a coalition of Black athletes and artists dedicated to combating voter suppression. ✅ Has partnered with local organizations and donated millions to a variety of causes including access to technology in under resourced communities, housing, and job opportunities. ✅ Has used his platform to speak out on important social justice matters. 2024 HBCU Football Preview By: Ty Prather, CEO, Founder, HBCU Classic Sports, Inc.       The 2024 HBCU football season is right around the corner, but as we head into another season of controlled chaos, this one seems different. There is more uncertainty surrounding college football at-large than ever before, and HBCU football specifically.         Overall, the college football landscape has changed drastically, the guise and spirit of amateurism is gone. Name, image and likeness (NIL), the transfer portal, conference realignment and the coaching carousel collectively, have upended amateur sports and contributed to some of the mystery surrounding the future of college sports.       The professionalization of collegiate sports has left HBCUs and other smaller schools in a precarious state. Already behind the eight ball, in terms of funding, the gap between the haves and have nots has gotten so large that it is difficult to say that they are playing the same sport.         Goliath is getting richer, and David is treading water. The nexus between growth, sustainability and equity is increasingly convoluted as HBCUs try to navigate turbulent waters.  Consequently, HBCUs are tasked with scrambling to keep up with the Joneses. Primarily, state-funded, non-profit, public institutions are now required to perform as for-profit, private corporations without the means or tools to necessarily do so. The average age when kids drop out of sports is 11, and younger for girls and families struggling financially. Youth Sports Giving Day aims to level the playing field. Led by the Daniels Fund, Anschutz Foundation, Weld Trust, Denver Broncos Foundation, Alpine Bank, Rose Community Foundation, Strohm Family Foundation, and other sponsors, there will be a dollar-for-dollar match to all online donations starting September 4, 2024 exceeding $800,000! Mark your calendars! The latest research report ‘Thriving Through Sport: The Transformative Impact on Girls’ Mental Health’ from Women's Sports Foundation found that… 🎾 Sport participation can lower depression and anxiety 🏑 In supportive sport settings that focus on effort, improvement and teamwork, depression symptoms are significantly lower (9.3%) vs settings where winning is the main goal and success is defined by ability compared to others (24.7%) 🏐 In sport settings where girls have more “voice and choice” over goals and activities, depression symptoms are significantly lower (10.4%) vs settings where they don’t have that opportunity (35.1%) Supporting girls in sports and supporting Girls on the Run means a brighter future for all! 10 years ago when my brother Simon Landau raised some money from friends & family to sponsor a talented 11-year-old soccer player to compete on a travel soccer team, he didn’t realize he was about to disrupt a $30 billion industry. The fundraising paid for Ariana to join a local travel soccer club and in her first year she led them to their first State Championship in 40 years. Ariana was scouted by college coaches and offered a scholarship to James Madison University becoming the first in her family to go to college, her stepping stone to the world. Sensing the opportunity at scale, Simon and his team circumvented the profit coffers of the travel soccer economy and created their own club DCFC, which is 100% free for players. DCFC offers professional level training and competes with the best teams. DCFC has direct lines to college scouts. I don’t use the word disruptive lightly. The business of youth sports is valued at $30 billion in the USA alone and 99% of teams charge big fees to play, meaning profits overlook a lot of the best talent...Where do you think the world's best soccer stars come from? The McSisters Foundation is a non profit organization a little over a year old. It has been a privilege to volunteer and support this dynamic group based in Montgomery County. There are great kids out there in tough situations, young people who need direction. McSisters works to build their self-esteem through sports and counseling. The organization helps these children realize their superpowers and instill a sense of community. To date, McSisters Foundation: Sponsored two youth workshops for more than 500 area high school or middle school students designed to improve self-esteem and personal growth. Provided five athlete scholarships for students at Strive Martial Arts. Donated more than 1,400 meals and snacks to address food insecurity. This includes providing prepared meals to seniors and families in the Rockville area. Provided haircuts for more than 40 area students to boost self-esteem and confidence. The most impactful and important aspect of McSisters is the sports equipment program for area schools. Participating in sports teaches discipline, teamwork, and the value of hard work. These are qualities that can deter young individuals from engaging in criminal behavior. Whether it's basketball, soccer, or track and field, sports help instill a sense of responsibility and accountability. Physically active children have a higher chance of achieving success as an adult, according to an Ohio State study. Youth sports build character and teach life lessons. Even in Montgomery, one of the wealthiest counties in the country, not every student who wants to play gets that opportunity due to money. Local government budgets usually set aside money for school sports, to be divided equally between schools. These funds often fall sort of the school's needs to run various sports programs. In well to do communities boosters and parents make up the difference and buy the equipment. Students in underserved communities typically make do with old, damaged equipment. Some schools are unable to field teams due to lack of equipment. This is especially true of less popular sports like field hockey or lacrosse. Over the last year, McSisters Foundation raised enough money to donate more than 200 (212 and counting) pieces of sporting equipment and clothing. We're talking safety equipment: helmets, pads, the stuff that protects players. I wish you could be there to see the joy on these kids when they turn in smelly used helmets in exchange for new ones.
