🌟 Catalonia's Research & Innovation Scene Hits a Thrilling Milestone! 🌟 Catalonia has solidified its status as a key player in the European Union's #innovation landscape, securing the third-largest share of European funds earmarked for #research and #innovation projects under the #HorizonEurope 2021-2027 framework. Over the initial three-year period from 2021 to 2023, Catalonia successfully secured €1,015 million in competitive EU funding, a notable achievement representing 3.54% of the total European funds. Catalonia stands out among EU regions in attracting funds for business-focused initiatives, ranking #third behind regions like Paris and Munich. Particularly impressive is the fact that Catalan companies capture a significant 10% share of the total funding allocated to support cutting-edge #startups and individual projects through initiatives like the #EIT and #EIC Accelerator. Within Spain, Catalonia leads the distribution of funds, capturing an impressive 32.6% share of the total, indicating significant growth compared to the previous research and innovation program, #Horizon2020, for the same timeframe. The European Commission's recognition of Catalonia as a #strong innovator underscores the region's dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. The European Innovation Scorecard was released this month and there are some interesting trends among emerging countries - Denmark retains the lead for Innovation Performance in all of the EU states. (My hypothesis cyclists make good innovators!). Estonia, Sweden and Switzerland also in the mix. But it is interesting to see other emerging trends within the EU; measured by Framework Conditions, Investments, Innovation Activities and Impacts - the report itself tells a bigger story of what works 💥 and who benefits 👫 👬 👭 🌎 The document is a whopping 149-page overview, but sets the stage for an example that #Canada could surely follow as we measure our #Innovation outputs across the country. 💡 60% of Catalan companies innovated in 2023, up from 56.4% in 2022!   The latest Innovation Barometer and Green and Digital Transformation report by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment has unveiled some excellent insights about the innovative landscape in Catalonia. 🌐According to the report, innovative activities have significantly increased. This is attributed to the impact of the European Commission's Next Generation funds, with the percentage of companies securing financing from this program rising from 5% in 2022 to 23.5% in 2023. 💻The study also highlights the growing use of digital technologies within Catalonia's business ecosystem. An increasing number of companies are investing in digital transformation, including technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and the Internet of Things. 🗣"Innovation is not only a major transformative asset for both the business and social sectors but also the seeds planted for the industry we will see in ten years," remarked Albert Castellanos Maduell, Secretary for Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment. 🌅It's truly inspiring to see Catalonia's business community at the forefront of innovation, and we look forward to witnessing the continued impact of these transformative initiatives in the years to come. Exciting developments for the AIM Congress team in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia last week!   Firstly, we engaged in a successful discussion with LIDE - Grupo de Líderes Empresariais, an organization uniting executive across diverse business sectors. Our goal is to empower business activities, contributing to the construction of an ethical, developed, and globally competitive society, especially as they participate in AIM Congress 2024. Mr. Dawood Al Shezawi also met with Pedro Sirotsky Melzer, Founding Partner at Igah, Ventures. and a Partner at Patria Investments, the largest alternative investment platform in Latin America.   The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is committed to fostering deeper relations with the Brazilian business ecosystem, aiming to bring high-level participants to AIM Congress 2024. We formalized our relationship with an MoU signing. In Peru, our team held meetings with The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce, THEMMA - Tech Startup, Lima Municipality, Mayor's Office, PromPeru and the Minister of Trade and Tourism.   We signed an MoU with Warmi Ventures, a digital business hub focusing on women's support programs for startups, and another MoU with ColCapital - Asociación Colombiana de Capital Privado to feature them as a Knowledge Partner, organizing innovative strategies for mutual benefit.   Closing the trip on a successful note, we visited Colombia and met with PROCOLOMBIA, Invest in Bogota, the National Departments Federation, the National Business Association of Colombia, and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.   Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone to AIM Congress 2024.
