Glad that we can finally show some content from an upcoming VR game made at Novelab and powered by Unreal Engine 5. We've a lot of stories about the development of this game, for instance, it was started with Unity and then ported to Unreal. It’s time to build a distribution pipeline for these amazing location-based VR, non-gaming experiences. I’m organizing two workshops for select participants to co-create the ecosystem and go-to-market for storytelling VR in LBE. These experiences deserve to be seen by the general public. And the creators deserve to monetize their creations at scale. I’ve just returned from Europe where I experienced 10 different art and cultural free roam experiences. And now I’m in Asia where I’m checking out more. The tech stack has simplified and prices are now reasonable. The high throughput operating models are becoming clearer. There are thousands of entertainment locations looking for new immersive content. Playing with scale: a multi-users VR experience of Gaudi’s Atelier ⚙️ Just as I return from an on-site visit to the one and only Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, I decided to engage in sensory play with my senses by visiting Gaudi, the Atelier of the Divine, an immersive docu-fiction in LBVR (location-based virtual reality) at ILLUCITY - Parcs d'aventures immersives en Réalité Virtuelle in Paris. Coproduced by GEDEON Experiences and Small Creative. it takes us into a virtual visit of his Atelier as Gaudi narrates a fictional recollection of his vision and documented working methods greeting us for a brief moment into his biggest dream, the Sagrada Familia 🌟 Although expensive for some (14€ for about 20 min), it offers an accessible experience with surprising realism within the limits of today’s technology. Designed for groups of 6, the space is relatively small. As such, an overlay of grids identifying limits of physical space was interfering with VR visuals until I resumed staying in the center of the physical room and limited my wandering. Then the view was just perfect. The captivating narrative leaves us wanting more. I particularly liked the realistic rendering of the natural light entering in the Atelier’s windows on which he drew much inspiration. VR is helping Olympians prepare for Paris 2024! 🥇 French scientists at the National Institute for Research in Computer Science & Automation have spent the years since Tokyo 2020 researching how virtual reality can be used to help improve the performance of Olympian athletes. As a result, Olympian Gymnasts now utilize VR headsets such as the VIVE Pro Series to review and analyze their routines from various perspectives, enabling them to pinpoint areas for improvement in their form. This level of detailed scrutiny would be impossible from traditional video analysis – immersive technology allows them to get the full picture. It's also helping boxers avoid injury by enabling defensive practice within the headset. Defensive practice often involves physical contact, which poses inherent risks of injury. However, within the VR simulation, boxers can refine their defensive techniques and make split-second decisions without exposing themselves to harm. They also don’t need to wait for different sparring partners, because they can compete against different technique virtual opponents anywhere, anytime. Although this innovative training approach is still at an early stage for French Olympians, it’s incredible to see the impact that it has had so far.
