Good! ☢ While it's touted as the ultimate professional networking platform, let's be real - it can sometimes be a breeding ground for toxicity. 🎉 We all know that feeling when scrolling through our feed and stumbling upon yet another self-promoting post or engagement-baiting headline. 🎊 The seemingly endless stream of humble brags, exaggerated success stories, and fake positivity can take a toll on our mental health. 😞 In fact, studies have shown that excessive use of LinkedIn can contribute to feelings of inadequacy, impostor syndrome, and even depression. 🎓 It's important to remember that behind the perfectly curated profiles lies a sea of insecurities and pressure to present ourselves as flawless professionals. 💭 The constant comparison game is exhausting and can leave us questioning our own worth and accomplishments. 😌 So, next time you find yourself caught in the LinkedIn rabbit hole, take a step back and remind yourself that your worth as a professional is not defined by your number of connections or endorsements. Here's the trick: it's gotta be something you're naturally good at something that almost feels like a gift. So, how do you unearth this magical niche? Let's break it down: • Grab a pen and paper, because it's brainstorming time! What are three things the world seriously needs right now? Maybe it's creative solutions for sustainable living, or innovative ways to manage mental health in the workplace. Write 'em down! • Now flip the script. What are three things you absolutely rock at? 🚨 Social Media Addiction🚨 Are you addicted to your phone or other digital devices? Do you scroll down your phone even in company? Perhaps, while you eat dinner with your family? You probably spend a couple of hours, if not more, checking out the latest reels, and short videos. If this sounds like you, it’s time you were mindful of social media’s signs and symptoms if you want to maintain a healthy balance. ⚖️ Check off as many as apply to you: 1.   ⬅️➡️ You spend hours scrolling through social media feeds, ignoring other responsibilities. 2. You feel the constant need for online approval, so you look out for likes, comments, or shares on your posts. 3.   ⌛You delay work-related tasks, skip deadlines, or give professional networking opportunities a miss, all because you’re comfortable with checking out social media. 4. You’re irritable and moody when you can’t access social media, or you feel anxious when you miss out on updates. 5. You pay little or no attention to your personal relationships, preferring online connections, even though this may lead to quarrels. 6. You have trouble sleeping because you can’t disconnect from social media. If you’ve checked off even one of the above statements, you need to address your problem. Sometimes the toughest part of getting out of knowing you get in your way and actually moving to where you want to be is recognising you need help, and knowing who to ask for what. Seems obvious, but it is tough because it can be hard to 1. Identify what help you need 2. Get over the shame and judgment you have about yourself needing and then having to ask someone for the help. 3. Get past your own fears of what might happen if it actually works and you get to your ideal case scenario .... 💡 What is your current strongest desire for yourself? 💡What inner resources do you have? (Check all the proof in your story that says you have got this!) 💡Who around you is already a resource for you? Network, social media etc 💡Who do you want to ask for help from and for what? What is the fear? What would be possible if you did ask for help? Which of these two is worth more to you?

I have generated 0 leads 🔥 through LinkedIn in just the past three months. Here is how you can do that, too... — Be generic — Shoot too many arrows in all the directions — Forget about your ICP — F* Outbound Reach — Remain inconsistent The best thing about LinkedIn is that the "right people" will tell you what's wrong with you if they see some potential in you. I have always found the right kind of people in my life once I became vocal about what I wanted... And what do I want from LinkedIn? To become the Great White Shark as the Freelance Mental Health and Fitness Writer for Mr. Octopus in Oklahoma, who craves someone humane and knows how to make people read his work, and does all the research... — One thing that I won't and can't succumb to — is this pattern that everyone follows — on LinkedIn to make their posts — highly scannable by using — this weird sentence — length rhyme Sure, short paras, yes! ✅ These irritating emojis = ✅ Okay, if that's what grabs your attention... But no, that's where I draw the line... I will be posting every day for a couple of months now... So follow me! What's in it for you? I will share some exciting research-based things in the sphere of mental health and fitness... with the help of this, you can live like the king or queen you are. You would like that, won't you? Huh? Phew 😅 .... many times I’ve tried typing a few words or writing a sentence on this platform then swoosh,,, with the backspace button I clear it all. Why?? Social anxiety... yeah funny right? It'll sound funny to a lot of people who know me personally because I'm an extrovert, very outspoken life of the party, yet not so on LinkedIn hmm... Well I'm not alone, many of us feel nervous and hesitant about engaging on professional platforms like LinkedIn because we become unduly anxious about how others may perceive us, that feeling of self doubt. One thing helping me so far is seeking support. Reach out to your friends or colleagues who are  good at it, my go-to person is Ogala Gideon Shaibu and he's always willing to help out and push. Also, listening to insightful podcasts on content writing/creation, learning from others in your network; Pay attention to the kind of content they share, the conversations they participate in and the tone they use, can help you feel at ease and have an idea on what to do. In addition,  focus on value, instead of worrying about how you'll be perceived, focus on providing value to your audience. You can start with simple actions like Liking and Commenting on other people’s post gradually increasing your level of engagement as you become more comfortable to dive into creating your own content. Remember, overcoming social anxiety is a journey and it's okay to take it one step at a time. I hope this helps someone out there 👍

Use LinkedIn correctly by building authentic relationships, sharing wins, and applicable social expertise 3. Be a sponge and soak in everything about brand, content, partnerships, and more - social is where everything comes to life. 4. Dedicate time to personal development and seek constant development - for me, i want to become a better writer so I have a daily time block to focus on. 5. I'm not a fan of social media generally. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate its power within business for reaching audiences and creating impact. But it often brings out the worst in people. LinkedIn always felt different - after all, it's a professional network, it wasn't like Facebook with all the drama and trolls. Until today...which, ironically, is during #MentalHealthAwareness month. One of my distant contacts felt the compulsion to direct message me, completely out of the blue and unsolicited, to tell me with "no disrespect" that it was utterly unbelievable that I was "pronouncing" myself as a business consultant. The reason I'm writing this post? To remind people to be mindful about their words and consider whether it needs to be said, and what better time to have that thought process than during #MentalHealthAwareness month. It's almost impossible that you know exactly what's going on behind the public face - that smiling, strong, confident professional on the outside may well be struggling with self-esteem, feeling totally crippled with self-doubt as they try something new and out of their comfort zone, their own worst critic already or worse, at the brink of a(nother) mental health crisis. It's highly unlikely you know the full story. So let's think about the impact our words have, and let's keep LinkedIn a professional network underpinned by supporting one another to succeed rather than knocking each other down. And that doesn't mean being sickeningly and falsely lovely to everyone and about everything, but considering 'is what I'm about to say': True Helpful Inspiring Necessary Kind That old phrase of "if you can't say anything nice to someone, maybe you shouldn't say it at all" really does go a long way. ❤️

Reminder - social media is a highlight reel. Yes, even here on LinkedIn. While we often see negative mental health stemming from platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, and mostly in teens, it's important to remind ourselves that even "professional" platforms like LinkedIn follow some of the same patterns of this highlight reel. "Connection X got a new job", "Connection Y got a promotion", "Connection Z just received a very big award". With LinkedIn being a more professionally aimed platform, it's not always common to share the lows with the highs. No one wants that to be seen when a potential new employer is checking out your profile, right? Good or bad, I just wanted to take a moment to remind you of the highlight reel. If you're unsure about your career right now, feeling burnt out about your job, or wondering if you're on the right path - many of us have been there, even if we don't share it publicly. Your journey is your own, and even if your path is "nontraditional", that doesn't make it wrong. As we head into mental health awareness month (May for the USA), I am working on exploring this more to provide more insights and resources for you all. We are in the midst of a loneliness epidemic. Here are 5 things I'm doing to fight it: 1. Reaching out to people: A simple message like "I was thinking about you today" can bring back old connections or start unexpected conversations. 2. Spending less time on social media (ironic, I know): Social media can make us feel connected, but it's often not real. Real connections come from spending time together, not just liking posts. 3. Planning memorable experiences: You can actually plan to make good memories. Think about the best times you've had with friends or family and plan more of those moments. 4. Exploring new interests: It's never too late to try something new. This is a great way to meet new people who share your interests. 5. Making connection a priority: If it's important, schedule it. Just like you schedule work meetings or doctor's appointments, prioritize catching up with friends or family. Remember: A little effort can go a long way in building connections.
