The 'extra-large’ Bizjet. Airbus is primarily known for its range of commercial passenger aircraft, spanning from the single-aisle A220 (formerly the Bombardier CSeries) to the mammoth #A380 double-decker. However, the #European planemaker also has a separate division that designs & manufactures large business #jets, called Airbus Corporate Jets (#ACJ). With Boeing launching its own Boeing Business Jets (#BBJ) range in 1996, Airbus followed a year later with its ACJ program, starting with a modified Airbus A319 passenger #jet. With the success of the original ACJ319, in 2002, the ACJ320 officially entered service & would soon be followed up two years later by the smaller ACJ318 model. With demand for larger private #aircraft still evident, #Airbus unveiled its first widebody #corporatejet offerings in 2007 with the ACJ330 & ACJ340. These were game-changers for its corporate line, offering ultra-long-haul range & unprecedented cabin space. It has already delivered two airframes of its newest corporate jet in the range, dubbed the ACJ TwoTwenty, in partnership with charter firm Comlux which has an exclusive agreement with Airbus to fit out the first 17 jets. The #A220-100 derivative was first announced in 2020 has so far attracted eight firm orders. Airbus has placed the ACJ TwoTwenty into its own size category, the 'extra-large bizjet,' offering a range of 5650 NM. #businessjet’s are awesome! #bizjet #bizav https://lnkd.in/dkV2dZ2M

Happy Birthday Airbus Aircraft! It has been more than 50 years, since Air France operated the first Airbus ever in a commercial service. On 23th May of 1974, Airbus A300B2 conducted the first commercial flight from Paris Orly Airport to London Heathrow. The certification process of the first Airbus type (A300) is incredible from the current perspective. The first manufactured Airbus A300B1 made its maiden flight on 28th October 1972. The serial version made its first flight on 28th June 1973, just one year before its first commercial flight. Terms that manufacturers can‘t even dream of today. Back at the time, Airbus had only 6 orders for A300, all of them from Air France. The airline was under pressure from the government to order domestic aircraft, however, the chances of gaining ground against the well-established American manufacturers were very poor. European airlines were more interested in Concorde and A300 was not of their interest. Thus, even the biggest optimist would not believe that Airbus becomes the world's largest passenger aircraft manufacturer, which was achieved mainly due to highly successful A320 series. At the time of creation of the A320, Airbus expected a total demand of 800 jets. Currently Airbus registers over 18 000 orders, making the A320 series the best-selling airliner, even surpassing the successful B737. In total, Airbus has already delivered 15 400 aircraft and has firm orders for another 8 617. This year, Airbus plans to deliver 800 aircraft, the vast majority of which will be A320neo. Airbus has brought not only quantity, but also quality and innovation. Perhaps the most notable innovation was „fly by wire“ system. During the construction of A300, composite materials were used for the first time in a civil transport aircraft and the beginning of what we now call a "glass cockpit" appeared. Besides, the long-haul aircraft was piloted by a two-man crew, which is common now, but was not a standard at the time. The concept of a twin-engine wide-body aircraft was also innovative, and subsequently became a norm.

🛫 Positive rate, gear up! Nowadays, regular fliers have got accustomed to expect to be either on a Boeing or an Airbus. You might be also tempted to check to see what you will be on this morning. But what is this - Airbus A220? Is this is a typo? I thought airbus models started with A3XX. No, you read that correct. The smallest Airbus plane is the A220. It is a brand new aircraft designed fully in the 21st century and the launch customers were Air Baltic and Swiss Airlines in Europe but as the photo shows they are used all the way in Australia as well. This small plane had an interesting story and in fact, it is actually a Bombardier underneath. Apart from the well known Boeing and Airbus, there are two other competing very big aircraft manufacturers Bombardier (Canada) and Embraer (Brazil). Due to complicated financial reasons, after 2018 this Bombardier was rebranded to Airbus A220 and gradually all software, documentation and operations have been taken over fully by Airbus. This aircraft has exceeded the marketed efficiency figures (not a very common occurrence) to become 20% more fuel-efficient than equivalent sized 737 and A320 planes. It also boasts perfect safety and reliability record for more than 1 million flights already performed. Passengers and flight crews love it and by extend operators are very happy with it. The engines that power it are very special and innovative and deserve a few articles dedicated solely on them (follow us to stay tuned). Even after the rebranding, this aircraft type certificate still belongs to Transport Canada 🇨🇦 hence do not forget to check for new Airworthiness Directives there! We know that hence we keep our ADs up to date to welcome A220 into our platform. #platformaero #bombardier #airbus #a220 #canada

The capable Praetor 500 Embraer has a reputation for building excellent business #aircraft, & the Praetor 500 is no exception. It can hold its own relatively well against super-midsize aircraft at a midsize #jet price point. Unveiled at National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) in 2018, the Praetor 500 was launched as the upgraded version of Embraer’s Legacy 450. The Praetor 500 plugs the size gap between Embraer Executive Aircraft, Inc. Phenom 300 light #businessjet & its larger Praetor 600 super-midsize aircraft. The Praetor 500 sits between midsize & super-midsize categories, competing against the likes of the BOMBARDIER Challenger 350, Cessna Aircraft Company Citation Longitude & the Gulfstream Aerospace G280. With a maximum operating speed of #Mach 0.83 the Praetor 500 with a maximum range of 3,340 nm is one of the quicker midsize aircraft available although marginally slower than the G280 at Mach 0.85. It’s powered by two Honeywell Aerospace Technologies HTF7500E engines that each generate 7,528lbs of #thrust. The engines are derived from the HTF7000 family which has flown over seven million #flight hours. The Praetor 500 has superior airfield #performance compared to other midsize & super-midsize aircraft as it only needs 4,222 ft or #runway length at max take off weight. Lugano Airport Switzerland, & Santos Dumont airport, Rio De Janeiro, are just two examples of airports that the Praetor 600 is able to safely operate from at maximum takeoff weight while competitor aircraft can’t. The Praetor 500 is controlled using fly-by-wire which is normally fitted on larger aircraft, making it a standout aircraft. Proving popular among operators, Flexjet has been offering the aircraft to its customers since 2019, & is converting its existing Legacy 450 aircraft into Praetor 500s. They won’t be the only operator with a significant fleet, NetJets ordered up to 250 of the aircraft in 2023 in a deal worth over $5bn, with deliveries expected to begin in 2025. Business jet’s are awesome! #bizjet #bizav https://lnkd.in/eNas3PJ7

Brazil's struggling rival to the Airbus A220 is getting a first-of-its-kind tech that competitors don't have https://ift.tt/e5hoCxK An Embraer E195-E2 at the 2024 Farnborough Air Show. Pete Syme/Business Insider Embraer announced a series of upgrades for its E2 next-gen airliner at the Farnborough Air Show. This includes a new automatic take-off feature called Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System or E2TS. The Embraer E2 has struggled to generate orders, especially from airlines in the US. Embraer announced a raft of upgrades for its next-generation E2 airliner at the Farnborough International Air Show in July, including a new automatic takeoff system. Despite a lack of new orders at this year's flagship air show, Embraer says the enhancements will make the plane more enticing for potential customers. "We aim to continually improve our aircraft and these upgrades announced today — reducing fuel burn and emissions; increasing range; improving the passenger and cabin experience; and adding new technology and connectivity — is great news both for our customers and their guests," Embraer Commercial Aviation President and CEO Arjan Meijer said in a press release. Even though automated landing systems have been used on commercial airliners since the late 1960s, the Brazilian airplane maker's automatic takeoff system will be an industry first. According to Embraer, E2TS requires no pilot action for the aircraft to lift off from the runway. However, pilots monitoring the takeoff must be able to immediately take over flying in case of emergencies such as system malfunction or a bird strike. The company claims the software can perform more precise takeoffs and flight trajectories, which Embraer it says will result in a roughly 400-mile improvement in range. E2TS will also allow the E2 to operate from shorter runways with more payload. The flight deck of an Embraer E195-E2 demonstration aircraft pictured at Dubai Airshow 2021. Thomas Pallini/Insider Embraer's automated takeoff system is expected to become available near the end of 2025 and will be available on both new aircraft and for retrofit on planes already in service, Aviation Week reported. In addition to E2TS, the E2's other upgrades include an improved bleed air management system in the plane's engines, which improves fuel burn by 2.5% and boosts maximum take-off weight (MTOW) to 137,780 lbs. The E2's cabin has also been optimized to fix an additional row of four seats, which Embraer estimates will generate airlines an additional $4.5 million in revenue per aircraft over 15 years. The Embraer E2 has struggled to find buyers. The Embraer E2, which lists for around $78 million per plane, is an updated second-generation variant of Embraer's E-Jet regional jet series. However, the E2 is bigger than the original E-Jet. The largest variant, the E195-E2, can carry up to 146 passengers. As a result, it now competes for sales against the Airbus A220 (nee Bombardier C-Series) in the 1...

Can A380 Production Restart? Christian Scherer, Head of Airbus Commercial Aviation, stated that while A380 production is not entirely impossible, the current market's focus on narrow-body aircraft makes this prospect quite unlikely. During the pandemic, many airlines considered withdrawing their double-deck A380s from service due to a decrease in passenger numbers, but with the rapid recovery of passenger traffic, airlines started using these aircraft again. One of the obstacles to new production is that the A380 production lines have been converted for the assembly of narrow-body A320s. Additionally, the large capacity of the A380 is not suitable for many routes, and its high fuel consumption is not sustainable for many airlines.
