Wake Forest University School of Medicine Dr. David Caudell, DVM's research hits new heights with two recent high-impact publications! First, published in #PNAS [https://lnkd.in/gTW3pp23] demonstrates the activity of fibroblast stimulating lipopeptide (FSL-1) as a countermeasure agent against hematopoietic acute radiation syndrome. #hematopoiesis, #innateimmunity, #radiation And, the second most recent paper made the cover of the #JLB (Journal of Leukocyte Biology)! The work establishes the #CD40 agonist selicrelumab as safe and effective at stimulating a systemic immune response when administered via subcutaneous injection, supporting its use in humans. #immunotherapy In the words of our colleague Dr. Mark Cline, DVM: "The paper represents an enormous collaborative effort with an international team, encompassing a decade of hard work and detailed exploration of unexpected findings (the best kind of results!)." Do you also think that biofluids are challenging samples for proteomic analysis?   I will soon share some of our experience on the analysis of biofluids (thanks to Bruker for the invitation!).   Clinical samples for proteomic analysis are "the worse" due to their intrinsic high variability. Analyzing larger sample series helps, but balancing scale and depth of the analysis remains key for biologically relevant insights.   In this presentation, I'll discuss challenges and optimized analysis of neat plasma, as well as Proteograph Assay, in a cohort of 264 Becker Muscular Dystrophy patients.   As each biofluid has its own challenges, I'll also share our experience on analysis of a cohort of 184 patients with rare nephropathologies. Agree...the large BMT centers in India are reluctant to undertake such studies...the media and public too is against clinical trials...we just follow guidelines from the West...the leadership of BMT centers must convince the public of the necessity of such clinical trials...that is responsible leadership...profits as the sole motive cannot be leadership...only Suparno Chakrabarti is bold enough to generate and publish Indian data...others simply either follow western data or do not publish...of course there is no dearth of huge and lavish conferences with international faculty which basically are marketing exercises for attracting patients to hospitals.

As I reflect on the updates presented at The EBMT-European Hematology Association (EHA) 6th European CAR-T meeting, it is evident that we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what’s possible with CAR (T) therapies.   My highlights: 💡 Our increasing understanding of the mechanisms of-CAR-T treatment toxicities, and the improved prophylactic and treatment strategies being utilised to manage these 💡 The progress being made with next-generation CAR-Ts using approaches such as genome editing, and the enormous potential they will bring 💡 The ever-expanding utility of CAR-T therapies, not only in haematological malignancies and solid tumours, but in a variety of other therapeutic areas – with particularly exciting advances being made in autoimmune diseases, and senescence & cellular regeneration Want to hear directly from the speakers on some these hot topics?
