Day in a life of a manufacturing rep: Today I helped with a very challenging back spot facing application. We had breaking inserts in a severely interrupted cut with a Heule Tool BSF tool. With the original parameters and program, they were breaking the cutting insert shortly after engaging in the cut. Armed with better parameters and going back to the basics, we successfully cut the first hole without incident.  While the cycle time is longer than anticipated, it's still a win since other methods and tools had failed. Now, we can focus on reducing the cycle time, having achieved a successful cut. I love these tough applications where I get to draw from experience and collaborate with engineers, distributors, and machinists to create a winning strategy. Now, we get to refine the process even further. I truly enjoy what I do because I feel I genuinely make a difference! What's a highlight or win from your day today?

Industrial Supply Association ran a great conference this year, and I had numerous meetings with manufacturers that are now open to Ecommerce and Amazon in ways they weren't before. One thing I heard consistently is that the field of traditional distributors continues to thin (driven in part by consolidation) and new growth channels are harder to come by for manufacturers (which is why they are looking at digital). However, I still heard a lot of reticence and channel conflict concerns. I believe that those who "step out" and actually embrace Ecom channels will be the winners, and Amazon Business is a great place to start this journey and "build the digital muscle" (particularly using the 3P selling model, which limits channel conflict by enabling price control). #amazonbusiness #billiondollarb2becommerce #b2becommerce

Who's fault is it when packaging lines are down? Of course it's the equipment! (cap salesperson here) Depending on whom you represent the answer is clear... though the truth will require further investigation and testing. Connect the equipment supplier and cap manufacturer as early and as often as you can. Clear cut next steps and takeaways are more easily defined.
