Online job boards are helpful but most jobs are found through personal connections. 2️⃣ When looking to relocate for a job, do your research by talking to people who live there about the living conditions, schools, housing market, healthcare, etc. Some companies may offer a trial period before fully relocating. 3️⃣ To get a job with limited experience, seek out short-term consultancies and paid internships to get your foot in the door. Demonstrate initiative, ask smart questions, and do your research on the organization. 4️⃣ Transferable skills like communication, writing, language abilities, and soft skills are very valuable, even if you don't have direct water sector experience. Frame your existing skills in the language of the job you're applying for. 5️⃣ To stand out to recruiters, showcase personal projects, volunteering, knowledge sharing on social media, etc. This demonstrates motivation and initiative. 6️⃣ Be upfront with potential employers about your needs around remote work, travel requirements, and work-life balance, especially if you have family considerations. Today, we unveil the 2024 Jobs on the Rise in Leeds, a look at the 10 fastest-growing jobs of the past five years and the trends defining the future world of work. Communications, sales and construction and engineering are all sectors that feature on the Leeds list, showing the breadth of opportunities in the city. Sales development representative tops the list, followed by technical roles. Quantity surveyors are among the roles that have grown the fastest, as well as project engineers. There are also roles in social media and marketing. See what skills are required for each role by clicking through the slideshow below. You can also learn more about the hybrid opportunities available and the gender split among employees in these roles. To compile the list, we looked at unique LinkedIn data for professionals in the Leeds area, calculating a growth rate for each job title over the past five years. 📊The latest #LabourMarketTracker, findings show that the total number of active postings has once again stayed at just above 1.7m where it has stayed for months, except for the expected usual dip around Christmas 2023. There were more than 1.7m active job postings in the UK, with 756,740 new job postings in May 2024. The number of active job postings declined by 0.7% compared to April and the number of new postings declined by 1.1% compared to April. 🔷Occupations with notable increases in adverts in May 2024 include Stonemasons and Related Trades (+21.6%), Building and Civil Engineering Technicians (+16.5%) and Forestry Workers (+16.3%). 🔷Nannies and Au Pairs (-20.4%), Probation Officers (-21.0%) and for the second month in a row, Data Entry Administrators (-18.5%), all showed the largest decline in roles from April 2023 to April 2024. 🔷Ards and North Down (+17.7%), Conwy and Denbighshire (+15.3%) and Bromley (+14.1%) had among the highest growth in job postings when compared to last month. 📊#LabourMarketTracker. In June, the total number of active postings declined very slightly to under 1.7m for the first time since February 2021. There were more than 1.6m active job postings in the UK, with 737,584 new job postings in June 2024. 👉The number of overall active postings in June 2024 was 1,689,040 – down by 1.6% on the number of postings in May 2024 but still above pre-pandemic levels. There were 737,584 new job postings in June 2024 – a 2.6% decline from the month before. 👉Occupations with notable increases in job postings in June 2024 include Childminders (443.8%), Driving Instructors (191.1%) and Air Transport Operatives (57.8%). Of the top ten jobs with the highest increase in postings from May to June, five were related to the driving and logistics industry. 👉Fermanagh and Omagh (17.0%), Derry City and Strabane (16.2%) and Redbridge and Waltham Forest (16.2%) had among the highest growth in job postings when compared to last month. Of the top ten counties with the highest growth, four were based in Northern Ireland. 👉Compared to the previous month, the Construction industry had a 1.7% increase in the number of job postings, whereas Education (-1.8%) and Human Health and Social Work Activities (-4.7%) experienced declines.
