Here are some fun facts from KCADC and many reasons we felt Kansas City was a great place to start the first Midwest chapter of the CCC. KC is home to 4 of ENR’s Top 150 Global Design Firms―second most of all other U.S. metros―and 11 of ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms. Nearly half of global sports architecture originates from the Kansas City region along with creating the gold standard for Olympic stadiums. In the last 10+ years, architecture and engineering services grew by 24 percent in the Kansas City metro, compared to only 9 percent for the U.S. Innovation is needed in every type of project and the 70,000 A/E/C workforce in KC pushes the boundaries daily – elevating it to a $24 billion industry. Companies in the KC region designed 15% of the world's power systems. A towering figure in the world of design and beyond, Buckminster Fuller, an American polymath spanning the realms of architecture, engineering, invention, and futurism, left an indelible mark on the world. His most recognizable and celebrated creation is the geodesic dome, a spherical structure renowned for its remarkable strength and efficiency. Inspired by the elegant simplicity of soap bubbles, Fuller imagined these domes not just as architectural marvels, but as potential solutions to some of humanity's most pressing challenges. He envisioned them addressing issues like housing shortages by providing efficient and affordable living spaces, and energy scarcity by utilizing their inherent structural integrity to minimize the materials needed. Beyond the iconic dome, Fuller's legacy extends further. He championed a philosophy he called "ephemeralization," a call to "do more with less." This concept urged a shift towards designs and practices that minimize waste and maximize efficiency. This philosophy resonated across disciplines, urging a move away from wasteful practices and towards a more sustainable future. Fuller's influence continues to be felt today. His innovative spirit and commitment to sustainable design continue to inspire architects, engineers, and thinkers to approach the world creatively and responsibly, seeking solutions that are both efficient and respectful of the environment. He serves as a reminder that even the seemingly fantastical can hold the key to solving some of our most pressing challenges.

I find the language in the article interesting. It's not 'health and safety' that caused this. It's poor design and construction choices that could lead to end of life events.
