1/ U2 launched a new single in a sort of staged but impromptu street event in Vegas and there’s a startup lesson in there - songs are just like startups, if they’re decent, their success is mostly dependent on the distribution. Those guys don’t really have a money problem, but it really matters how you plant early the seed in order to go to market. 2/ The startup funding environment in Europe is bad but deals are still getting closed. We asked two startup founders how difficult was for them to raise their seed and pre-seed rounds - TL/DR not as difficult as the market is. 3/ Last week we've had a few startups that announced closing early stage deals just within a months period. Not extensions, just consecutive stage deals - we reviewed a few of those. 4/ The French are seeing some sort of a Renaissance moment now that the Brits called it quits with Europe - just last week Xavier Niel announced efforts worth €200 million split between a future AI research lab to be located in Paris, cloud supercomputing capabilities powered by Nvidia hardware, and funding for startups. 5/ Mistral, the French light of AI hope, made public its own free LLM saying it outperforms competitors and that it requires 50% less computational power to run. It's too early to tell whether it's meaningful or not but there's a was to get their strategic playbook.
