🌊 A Fresh Approach for Sustainable Success 🦐 In a world where the seafood market is expanding rapidly, the challenge lies in preserving the freshness, taste, and quality of seafood products. As consumer demand for sustainability grows, the seafood packaging industry is evolving to meet these expectations. Seafood processors face the challenge of maintaining high-quality standards while handling delicate and perishable products. Freezing is a common preservation method, but it poses challenges due to seafood's sensitive nature. The key to meeting these challenges lies in sustainable packaging solutions. Environmental concerns have fueled the demand for eco-friendly seafood packaging. Consumers seek products that are packaged responsibly to reduce plastic waste and minimize environmental impact. Sustainable packaging not only addresses these concerns but also preserves seafood freshness, ensuring a superior product for consumers. Companies are embracing digital technologies to optimize supply chains, reduce waste, and enhance sustainability. Smart packaging solutions offer features like real-time freshness monitoring and interactive product information, enhancing the consumer experience while meeting sustainability goals. FreshTrack Tech's Approach: FreshTrack Tech is at the forefront of revolutionizing the seafood industry with its smart packaging solutions. By integrating pH-responsive technology and real-time freshness monitoring, the company aims to empower seafood producers and consumers to make informed decisions about product quality. Freshness-Indicating Films (FFIs): FreshTrack Tech utilizes FFIs, which indicate food freshness or spoilage status through distinctive colour changes. These films, made from biocompatible materials and enriched with natural dyes, provide accurate assessment and visual cues, ensuring transparency and confidence in product quality. As consumer demand for sustainable seafood grows, companies like FreshTrack Tech are leading the way with innovative packaging solutions. By embracing digital innovation and sustainable practices, the seafood packaging industry is poised for a future that prioritizes both environmental responsibility and consumer satisfaction. #SeafoodPackaging #SustainableSolutions #FreshnessMonitoring

Did you know that the average lifespan of a food tray can be as short as 8 days – from the day it is produced to the day it is disposed of by the consumer? This represents significant waste of valuable resources. As a leading supplier of rigid food packaging, Faerch is committed to changing this. Elisabet V. Sandnes , the newly appointed Chief Sustainability Officer at Faerch explains: “Though our business is quite complex, our goal is simple: Shift from using rigid food packaging once, to an infinite number of cycles where packaging from household waste is recycled back into new food packaging. We want the packaging to maintain the same quality, ensuring like-for-like usage without compromising on food safety. This is circular recycling.” At our integrated recycling facility in the Netherlands this is reality already today. “And with the upcoming Grand Opening of our fully scaled recycling plant in mid-April we will showcase our full-scale facility and demonstrate how we are reshaping the industry by ensuring that a rigid PET food packaging can become a new food packaging with circular content again and again, so stay tuned” Elisabet concludes. #wasteavoidance #rigidfoodpackaging #circularrecycling #faerch #circularcontent #circulareconomy

My main motivation for joining Faerch nearly two years ago was this👇🏼 Our ability to turn waste into new food packaging and our ambition to scale. Our new additional recycling line triples our capacity and our ambitions go even further than that ♻️ #circulareconomy #Faerch #circularfoodpackaging

🍞 Crust to Crust: Bakkergrondstof's circular bread 🍞 Bakkersgrondstof BV is changing the game in circular food practices. Their initiative takes unsold bread from local bakeries and gives it a second life—either as high-quality bread flour for fresh bread or as food pellets for chicken feed. Proba.earth is proud to announce our support of this fantastic initiative. Through the issuance of tradable carbon certificates, this collaboration allows for real financial incentives to support this project and encourage even more sustainable practices within the food industry. Thanks to Bakkersgrondstof BV and Proba.earth, we're taking a big step toward a more sustainable and circular food system. 👉 Read more in the full blog post here - https://lnkd.in/eXtwTp4m #Circularfood # #Sustainability #ProbaEarth #Bakkersgrondstof

The EU’s legislative proposal on #SustainableFoodSystems was due to be implemented in the third quarter of 2023, but is currently postponed. The food industry’s reliance on single-use #packaging is a #sustainability “sticking point” with viable alternatives not widely available yet. Another key element in the overall sustainability equation is the waste collection and disposal, particularly of packaging materials. Food businesses need to make sure that packaging is returned as much as possible and is integrated into a workable #recycling scheme. As part of this goal, the #EU is implementing legislation in December 2024 to ensure #EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) schemes are established for all #foodpackaging materials, including establishing a waste management and prevention plan and providing an indication of the packaging’s #environmentalfootprint.

NatuWrap is paving the way for sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. Our patented micro-composite barrier solution is organic, natural, and fully biodegradable, providing a viable replacement for MAP films without the plastic. This innovative solution regulates gas exchange in a similarly adjustable and passive way. However, the adoption of long-term solutions takes time, and drastic mandates don't allow producers the necessary time to evaluate and implement new technologies. As someone who has spent decades on the receiving end of these types of mandates, I believe in a well-thought-out, harmonized approach. Let's work together towards a more sustainable future. #IFPA #sustainablepackaging #biodegradable
