In some of my recent discussions, there's been a great round-up of thinking that highlights the real need to question current operating models prevalent in the industry and their fitness for purpose. This resonates deeply with my own journey in 2024. Six months ago, I embarked on a journey—one that has been both challenging and rewarding. Last month, I touched a much-awaited professional milestone as I completed the EY Center for Board Matters - Board Ambassador Program. It has been transformative, as the program was filled with invaluable lessons and the opportunity to connect with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Reflecting on recent discussions, it's clear we've got a lot on our plates already. As we sharpen our skills and get ready to shape our strategic future, as upcoming board leaders and executives we explored how to redefine societal impact. Stepping up as Board Ambassadors, we are eager to motivate leaders to embrace change, balance stakeholder needs and uphold environmental and social responsibilities, all while staying profitable. To all those considering similar programs, I can affirm it is an investment in yourself that pays dividends in professional excellence and personal fulfillment. In my first month, adapting to a fast-paced environment and contributing to key projects set the foundation for the months to follow. As a people person, empathy plays a crucial role in my daily interactions. Recognitions for exceptional teamwork and leadership potential highlight the importance of understanding and supporting my colleagues. It's through empathy that we build strong relationships, foster collaboration, and drive collective success. Innovation and continuous improvement have been guiding principles throughout my journey. Bringing fresh ideas and striving for excellence not only enhanced client satisfaction but also fueled my personal and professional growth. The recognitions for impact that matters and exemplary performance are a testament to the importance of going above and beyond to exceed expectations. Perseverance has been the cornerstone of my achievements. Facing challenges head-on and maintaining a commitment to excellence has been rewarding in more ways than one. These seven recognitions are a reminder that hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. They are celebrated and cherished, inspiring me to continue pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks. Since getting promoted to Manager at Deloitte, I frankly have not taken enough time to step back and soak in both the accomplishment and the transition that comes from leveling up. I spent the first half of this week at Deloitte University in TX for the Global Manager Milestone Program and I finally got the time to step back, reflect and wrap my arms around the responsibility of being a people leader at a company like Deloitte. From live ‘leadership skills lab’ with Manager peers from across the Green Dot to many moments of connection and learning from their experiences and perspectives, my cup is full. Deloitte recently coined ‘Moments that Matter’ as a way to give team members concrete and practical ways to execute against Deloitte’s strategy and a few of these moments really came to life for me this week at DU: 1. Own it - reflecting on some of the best leaders I’ve had in the past made me realize that it is so impactful to ‘go to bat’ for your people; more importantly, the leaders I admire both share the recognition when the team is successful and also own the team’s mistakes, recognizing that accountability falls on their shoulders to support, guide and coach the team. 2. Walk in their Shoes - trust can be built by taking yourself ‘out of your own shoes’ and doing your best to understand a client, a partner, a leader’s POV. Building trust is absolutely critical in a context where so many of our workplace experiences and interactions are digitally driven and it is easy to disconnect the human from the equation.  3. Up their Game - feedback, when done well, can be such a gift. As a people leader, I must strategically invest time in helping my team members up their game. Can’t wait to bring these learnings to life as I return back!

Participating in KPMG's leadership program prompted me to consider my impact within the firm. Today, I'll explore the significance of the letter M in KPMG, which represents "Meaning."💡 Ever wonder if there's more to our jobs than just going through the motions? Yeah, me too. This week I had the honour and pleasure of joining a group of my peers at Deloitte University for the Director Milestone Program. Our amazing faculty helped guide us thorough conversations to better understand how to be successful in our new, elevated roles. A few key takeaways: 1. You are not alone – while each of us has a unique role, there are many similarities that we share and we can, and should, continue to lean on one another to be successful. 2. Be forthright about how you are evolving your capability – articulating your aspirations and expectations for yourself in role can have direct business and team impacts. 3. Memorable quotes: As a leader, “How can we follow you when you are following us?”; For our clients, “Don’t be a solution looking for a problem”. I'm excited to put these learnings into practice and continue to live my #OnlyatDeloitte experience!

Looking back at this journey, to my experience of speaking at PWC for the first time! I'll admit, I had my doubts about being up to the task, but taking that stage and addressing the audience was absolutely exhilarating! Being a speaker is a true passion of mine – there's something magical about using words to drive change, especially when engaging with executives and decision-makers. I'm reminded of all the moments of growth and transformation that have brought me here. Each step, each challenge, has contributed to my development as a speaker and as an individual.
