It was great seeing the Houston-based BILL team a few weeks ago. This is a tight-knit team of people, who are super passionate about our mission and our customers. I loved the opportunity to sit down in person with them and talk about some of the great innovations they’re helping to drive. Johnny Lipowski and team - thanks for the Texas BBQ & warm Houston hospitality!

We create engagement of our globally distributed, remote team by enabling frequent re-connection in our headquarters. Our offices in Brussels are an alive, beating heart of the company. To do that sustainably, over time and at scale, we need cost optimisation - but not at the expense of the comfort of our Rockers. That is how we arrived at the concept of "Keyrock Maison" - a serviced townhouse where everyone has comfortable personal space but where our team members can create connections in thoughtfully designed shared spaces while they visit. At 50% cost compared to hotels or airbnbs 💸
Curious to know what other distributed companies do to keep their teams "together" and aligned 💡
Home is where the heart is. And now, it's in Brussels, too. - We've teamed up with Neybor to provide Keyrockers with a cozy house steps away from our HQ.
It's our way of showing that we value our team members' presence, welcoming them in a serene and carefully curated environment when they visit 🏡

I’ve dedicated my career to developing and delivering unique, end-to-end economic development services for cities, companies, and developers. I am a leader, speaker, and difference-maker.
On the power of “Yes” and the magic of community collaboration - a throwback to a day that defines innovation and resilience.
Ten years ago, as dawn broke and I made my way back from a workshop I had led in Eagle Pass, and while on the road a call from Bastrop—where I had the honor of working at the time—changed the course of my day and, in many ways, my approach to opportunities.
I remember this day because It was International Happiness Day, and a friend a and Bastrop residnet called with an idea: “Could we shoot a video set to the tune of “Happy,” a song that was trending at the time to celebrate International Happiness Day?”
Honestly, I thought, “It’s 7 in the morning. I’m driving a rented Prius four hours from Bastrop, and you want to shoot, produce, and post a video today?”
So, naturally, I said l, “Yes,” because that’s what Super Dave Quinn would do.
The logistics seemed daunting. Me, miles away driving in a rented Prius, with the day already in full swing. But the essence of innovation isn’t in the ‘how’ but the ‘yes.’
“Yes,” I found myself saying. Yes to the unpredictable, yes to the seemingly impossible, because that’s what we do.
The video below is more than a memory. It’s a reminder of the power in embracing opportunities, no matter how unexpected.
It wasn’t about the how; it was about the will. And as the day unfolded, so did the path to making it happen, guided by a community’s heart and hustle.
This experience taught me countless lessons, but the most profound was the incredible feats we can achieve when we foster a culture of yes. It’s about more than just agreeing; it’s about opening doors to possibilities, about communities and individuals coming together to turn a vision into reality.
This video, crafted in a single day, stands as a vibrant reminder of what’s possible when we unite in creativity and purpose.
As you watch, I hope you’re reminded of the power within you to embrace opportunities, lead with optimism, and build something meaningful together. Let’s carry this spirit of possibility into every challenge, every project, every day.
Here’s to saying “Yes” - to opportunities, to community, and to making the impossible possible. Watch to the end to see all the folks who said Yes and helped make it happen.
Bonus points: drop a comment on the investment you think it took to produce this.

Something I notice at all the Canadian Franchise Association events is the collaboration and knowledge sharing by industry "competitors".
In the fast-paced world of construction, as in any other industry, it's easy to get caught up in the competitive mindset, constantly striving to outperform rivals. But what if we flipped the script? What if, instead of viewing each other as rivals, we embraced collaboration as the cornerstone of our success?
Every day, I'm privileged to witness the incredible power of collaboration in action. From joint ventures on major projects to knowledge-sharing within industry networks, the spirit of cooperation is driving real change and innovation.
Let's make a conscious effort to build bridges, not walls. 🌉
Let's work with others based on trust, respect, and mutual benefits.
Together, we can make the industry better. 💪

1. Consider Race- and Gender-Neutral Remedies
Race- and gender-neutral approaches are a necessary component of a defensible and effective
M/WBE program75 and the failure to seriously consider such remedies has been fatal to several
programs.76 Difficulty in accessing procurement opportunities, restrictive bid specifications, excessive
experience requirements, and overly burdensome insurance and/or bonding requirements, for example,
might be addressed by KCMO without resorting to the use of race or gender in its decision-making.
Effective remedies include unbundling of contracts into smaller units, providing technical support, and
developing programs to address issues of financing, bonding, and insurance important to all small and
emerging businesses.77 Further, governments have a duty to ferret out and punish discrimination
against minorities and women by their contractors, staff, lenders, bonding companies or others.
