Love this 👏 Most people sell themselves short. (And miss out on what they deserve) This is an inspiring story but it’s not the reality for most. I’ve directly coached hundreds of job seekers. All of them tell me their salary expectations for their next role. My thoughts when many of them share their numbers: “Wow, that’s low for the work they’re doing” “They could easily be making [x] more than that” “Their skills and experience are worth so much more" I also run a recruiting company so I know salary ranges for many roles. That’s a unique advantage I have in my line of work. But most people don’t have that understanding. So I was excited to hear what Nolan Church is working on at FairComp to ensure pay equity. The platform tells you if you’re being paid fairly compared to your peers and shares exactly how much more you could make (e.g. “You could be making $24K more…”). They also have an AI negotiation coach to walk you through a negotiation process with a company. Try it here: https://lnkd.in/gfPQtkWk And remember…negotiating for better pay isn't just about money. It's about recognizing and communicating your true value.

Feeling confident to present yourself in a strong way during the recruitment process, instead of "underselling" yourself is extremely important to increase the chances of getting a great salary and benefits. Several job seekers feel that they are bragging if they speak up, or that they will come across as too aggressive is they ask for the salary they want. Great reminder Reno that recognizing and communicating our true value will pay off - literally.

The goal is to get them pay you for the value you create, not the amount you’ll accept. The former is usually much higher.

People often undervalue their skills. It's crucial to know your worth in today's job market. I love the idea of an AI negotiation coach. It could really boost confidence in salary talks. FairComp sounds like a game-changer. Pay transparency is so important for fair compensation.

I think most companies overly complicate the pay transparency process - many job seekers are turned off by the guessing game that it’s become Reno - I hope to see more companies adopting transparency practices before the process even starts.

Do not underestimate your value. If you will not ask - you will not get what you want. Simple, not easy.
