What the world needs…
What I Love About You... We play a family dinner game called “What I Love About You.” The rules are simple. Each person has a turn in the spotlight, and one at a time, every other person at the table provides a heartfelt affirmation by stating, “What I love about you is _____.” After everyone shares something they love about that person, we move on to the next person. It’s powerful. Themes rise to the top, specific moments of family support are recognized, attitude and effort are affirmed, and grace abounds as we are all brought to a higher level of connection. What I Love About You is even more fun when you add dinner guests, including friends, neighbors, and extended family members. But to be clear, you must use the word “love” and cannot soften the approach by talking about something that you “like” or “admire” about the other person. This is about love. We can love everyone at the table, including the new friend or neighbor, and recognize that there are many levels of love, and one does not negate the other. If you have never played What I Love About You with your family, give it a try. Then take the next challenge. Bring love into your workplace. Love in the Workplace? Yes. I know a handful of companies where this is normal. I know leaders who proclaim that it is love that drives their company’s success. And guess what - - many of those companies make repeat appearances on the national best places to work lists. What do you love about your co-workers? What do you love about your boss or your direct reports or about the new person who just joined? You ought to tell them. If you practice loving your co-workers, I bet you’ll love your work more, too. #companyculture #keynotespeaker #undividedlife
