Moderated by Richard Kennington of Rinaldi Consultants, LLC, the panel “𝗔𝗧𝗖 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄’𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻” delved into incorporating frontline workers into the future of aviation. Happy 20th Anniversary, Air Control! 🎈 🥂 Twenty years ago, we opened our first office in a spare bedroom of a small weatherboard house in Lilydale, Melbourne's leafy Eastern Suburbs. Our first customers were found by hitting the pavement and door-knocking random small offices and commercial buildings, hoping to help with any air conditioning faults or breakdowns. A tough gig at first, we figured the odds were if 1 out of 10 had an issue, all we had to do was cold-call 100 to find our first 10 customers. Eventually, this strategy worked, and we began building a small platform of commercial clients. Sixteen years later, in 2020, we reached a significant milestone when 60% of Air Control was acquired by ASX200 listed company, the Johns Lyng Group. This partnership further fueled our growth and capabilities. Today, from 2 employees to 200+, and over 100 trusted subcontractors, Air Control has expanded to operations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Regional NSW. Together with our people, our mantra of "Say yes to everything, and figure it out later" is the fabric of our organisation and has been the backbone of our expansion over these years. This incredible journey wouldn't have been possible without the support of our amazing teams, loyal clients, and trusted partners. BBGA responds to activists with its own narrative Launches Did you know? campaign with video, social media platforms Industry peers increasingly ask us how we, the recognised voice of the British business and general aviation sector, are responding to acts of trespass / vandalism of executive jets. The answer is – we are telling our own story with the launch of our UK specific Did you Know? campaign. We are kicking it off with a series of 20 contemporary short videos from around the UK. You can find them under the hashtag #Bizavenables. Produced by GearupMedia, in conjunction with a viral social video specialist agency, these vertical videos are being rolled out on the major social media platforms - Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube. They can also be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/ekArb6wj We are also canvassing our members with new #Bizavenables LinkedIn and X platforms, inviting them to share their sustainability, innovation stories; how they are effectively recruiting new employees into aviation to highlight how we continue to lead by example. The perception of private aviation as all champagne and caviar is wrong. Many of our aircraft have such small cabins you can’t stand up in them, but they do connect city pairs which scheduled airlines do not. Around 10% of business jets flying are air ambulances. (One leading London Stansted FBO handled 85 medical repatriations last year). We have King Airs, Pilatus PC-12 turboprops repositioning crew; delivering AOG parts for stricken airlines or cruise lines. Business aviation connects 3,150 city pairs in the United Kingdom; 120 metro areas and 124 airports; versus 506 connections; 30 metro areas and 30 airports served by the top 16 airline (A4E and Wizz) holdings in Europe, according to latest data analysis by WINGX. Each business aircraft landing in the UK (Europe’s second biggest market behind France), supports an average 100 jobs – pilots; customer service representatives at FBOs; refuellers; aircraft cleaners; inflight catering companies; concierge; hotel staff (many of our FBOs have adjacent hotels); trip planners; etc. As for clientele flying, they are diverse and invariably on a strict schedule. They may not be playing to 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, but they may well be opening a business in the UK, visiting a remote facility or closing an important deal.  They will have turned to charter because their local airport no longer offers a scheduled alternative. Business aviation is discretionary, but always reliable. “As Europe’s largest national business aviation association it is important that we build our own narrative and we are therefore pleased to have started this new campaign.  Our members are innovative and increasingly environmentally conscious. We want to highlight how they are making a difference,” said Lindsey Oliver.

Last week at the AirCargo Conference, I had the privilege of speaking on a panel about the benefits of leveraging private equity and public-private partnerships to develop and fund flexible, accessible, and affordable airport facilities.   We discussed how airports can create a planning environment that makes cargo projects feasible, how P3’s can leverage their strengths to build better projects, and how to position developments for success. I shared some of the benefits of P3’s and working with a company like AFCO to fund air cargo and other airport facilities: 1. AFCO specializes in airport real estate – which is critical in understanding the nuances of developing air cargo facilities. 2. Our experience across a range of projects create efficiencies and streamline processes when it comes to project design and construction. This enables us to deliver projects at or under budget and with fewer delays – ultimately saving money for the end user and airport.  3. Once a project delivers, our expertise managing and operating these facilities over the long term empowers airports to focus their resources on more top-of-mind initiatives, (e.g. the passenger terminal). 4. We act as true partners – an extension of the airport's team – and when we develop these facilities, we look to hold them long-term and maintain the value of a best-in-class asset.
