"ResMed has always done what’s best for patients, encouraging all patients to live healthier lives through sleep, diet and exercise. The recent SURMOUNT-OSA clinical trial results are good news for individuals with obesity and sleep apnea. GLP-1 medications will give physicians more options in how they treat patients; GLP-1s will likely be used concomitantly with positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy. " Our Chief Medical Officer, Carlos Nunez, takes a closer look at what the latest GLP-1 data could mean for those with OSA. https://lnkd.in/gKgdMjeT
As someone who has suffered from severe OSA for years, CPAP is a literal life-saving therapy for me. 16 months ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and prescribed a GLP-1. Since then I've lost almost 90 pounds and my HbA1c is now normal! The weight loss definitely helped with my OSA - but did not completely resolve it. So I am extremely grateful that I now have BOTH treatments available - CPAP and GLP-1s. Together - they keep me healthy and feeling better than I have for decades!

3wOk, full transparency that I work at ResMed. But *far more importantly* I have severe OSA, *and* I'm on GLP-1 for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes. I can tell you unequivocally that BOTH CPAP and GLP-1s are critical for my overall well being! #resmed #osa
